My experience is that this is a wonderful course. It is very comprehensive and explains and demonstrates everything I need to start using Motion. There are many topics that seem like I won't need them at first, but I'm comfortable that I'll be able to return to the video and watch them when I need a review. My only [slight] negative comment is that there's a strong emphasis on the keyboard shortcuts. Since I was focused on learning techniques, I don't think that I've learned any of the shortcuts. I think, as a beginner, what would have helped me more is to constant see the button or menu command used to reinforce my memory on how to find and apply each of the features. Overall, thanks for a wonderful class and a great learning environment.

It was very good. Learnt a lot of information and I am looking forward to applying it to my work. Thank you. My only 'criticism' would be the trainer's version of Motion is quite a bit older than the current version so sometimes it became hard to follow. but more often than not it was fine.

Its hard to imagine that anyone could be more knowledgable. The speech is clear and details are continuously reinforced. Couldn’t be happier with this course and I will be referring back to it. I expect that the content will remain relevant for some time -even as motion 5 evolves. All in all an excellent course andI have no hesitation giving it 5 well deserved stars. Thanks again!

Losing the File Browser in the latest version of Apple Motion has made some of the tutorials here harder to follow. If a note could be added that would be great OR a follow-up tutorial/s with other ways to import files. Some of the example file formats are no longer supported in Motion 5 (eg: firstLook.MOV file in Lesson 15 - use the same name file from lesson 13 instead). Some button positions have changed with the later version of the software 5.4.1 but you can complete the course

Matt Schalk made even the most complex topics comprehensible. When my memory fails me (as it often does), I will return to this tutorial to expand and reinforce my working knowledge of Motion 5. This course is truly a "Definitive Guide to Motion". Many thanks, and kudos, to Matt Schalk and Infinite Skills.

I've taken several udemy courses (the FCP X was 5-star) and have tried to work through the Motion 5 training several times unsuccessfully. There are files included with the training, but they aren't projects that you create, they are only files to follow the instruction. This course is lacking in teaching how to create motion 5 projects - it is only quickly showing you the functionality and how to give objects motion. I tried unsuccessfully to work through this course, gave up and took a basic Ripple Training for motion 5 course, built a complete motion project to understand how all the motion pieces fit together. I was then able to return to this udemy training a couple of months later and was able to comprehend the full functionality of the software. I recommend using udemy's outstanding bookmark feature to make notes of the different things you learn so that you can later refer back to the lessons as a user's guide.

So far most is understandable. On some complicated procedures the narration and examples happen a little too fast, or there is an assumption that you have studied photoshop or have more experience than one has. But I'm still working through the course. I might change my mind by the time I'm through.

Good course, reasonably detailed. Give a detailed walkthrough of the Motion 5.0 UI and the features of the app. I knocked off a star because it appears to be about three years old. Nonetheless, I'm not having any problem adapting to the UI changes introduced in Motion 5.3. If you are new to motion graphics, you may find the course a bit overwhelming. The instructor doesn't follow a "beginning, then intermediate, then advanced" organizational model. Instead, he dives into each topic in considerable detail.

Going fast with introducing less relevant functions and shortcuts at the very beginning of the course. But what really makes me less satisfied is the older user interface of Motion that's covered; is it even version 5...? From section 4 it became more of a course, and I did overcome the most differences between versions. But then there was 4.5 Editing on the time line... it felt like 100+ shortcuts in a few minutes. Why?

This is what I'd call a "survey" course. It goes over the menus and features but you don't actually do or create anything, which makes it kind of boring. Worse, it was made in 2011 using, what seems to be, a beta copy of Motion 5 as some of the features didn't work. I'm writing this in July 2015, Motion is on version 5.2.1 with many changes and enhancements yet no additions have been made to this course and my emails to the author have gone unanswered. Seems they're abandoned it. Searching YouTube will bring up free and current project driven courses so you'll actually be able to use what you learn, as you learn it. I gave it three stars as what they did cover they did a decent job of.
