Course Description
Every producer has spent hours trying to get their basses to play powerfully and yet still remain balanced with their entire mix. We often think we've got the perfect sounding bass, but when it plays with everything else, it's either overwhelming or doesn't translate on smaller headphones/laptop speakers.
In this course you'll learn the right way to Layer, EQ and Sidechain the perfect bass for your mix.
Course Overview
1. Discover how bass can be divided into 4 frequency bands, and how they are individually EQed to create a clear and compelling low end.
2. Learn how to design each layer of your bass so they can easily be adjusted for your mix.
3. Find out why we sidechain each layer separately and how it creates more room for your kick to punch through dense mixes.
4. Learn the advanced techniques for getting your sub frequencies to play on smaller headphones and laptop speakers.
5. Every producer must know how to use EQ and compression together. Included is my E-book, "The EQ and Compression Formula." In it you'll learn the step by step way to use EQ and Compression together.
This course will remove the guess work when creating and engineering basses. It doesn't matter whether its a synth bass, an audio sample or some combination of the two. By using these bass layering techniques you'll be able to create the perfect sounding basses for any mix.

I've been a producer/audio engineer for 8 years. Like many producers, I began with no formal training or experience.
I remember being overwhelmed by the number of things I 'thought' I had to learn. There’s just too much unnecessary theory and technicality occupying this field of education. Many producers/engineers fall into the trap of thinking they need to learn it all
In many fields a steep learning curve doesn’t always mean there has to be intense difficulty learning that field, instead it’s often an indication that the education materials of that field have not evolved beyond the point of complex maps/models of how to do something.
But unfortunately, complexity is a limitation--not a strength.
I know this because I used to look at audio engineering/production in a very complex way and it felt powerful. However, it was extremely time consuming and I couldn’t teach my methods to anyone who wasn’t already an expert.
But creating art isn’t about what’s right, it’s about what works and more importantly, what works easily with minimal effort. The true indication of creativity is being able to take the complexities of production/engineering and simplify them. This way anyone could learn a skill and apply it in a few simple moves.

Really enjoyed this course. Some very important and fairly easy to grasp concepts in a nicely delivered, not overly bloated course. I read one of Nathan's books and thoroughly enjoyed it, which lead me to check him out online, leading me to this course. I'm going to read his EQ and Compression Formula included in this course and would also like to read his reverb and multi-band compression books. So far I like his communication style and general demeanor whether in the written word or through video tutorials. Thanks, Nathan. Good stuff!

Nathan please disregard what I said about simplifying. When I started to use some of the techniques and tricks you explained in your tutorial and reading the EQ and Compression book it all finally started to click. LOL the light bulb went off and ta da I figured it out. I'm still going to review the tutorial over again because they'er some technical things you explained in the tutorial that I missed. Overall my bass layering and mixing has improved much. Thank You!

As a newcomer to electronic music, 110% improvement in my sound and comprehension in the subject immediately. Only thing I could ask for is more examples!

Really Great course. Helped me learn a lot of things I didn't know about engineering bass. The Eq and compression book included was a surprising gem.

Informative content and it's easier to understand than I was anticipating. I ultimately didn't realize how simple it was to get a solid bass.
