Course Description
Dear Friend,
This course is the first and only dedicated HPLC course exclusively on Udemy.
High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) is one of the most widely used analytical tools in testing laboratories. It allows for the separation, identification, purification, and quantification of drug substances as well as many organic compounds.
HPLC is an incredibly powerful technique with applications across multiple fields: analytical chemistry, pharmaceuticals, food and nutrition, polymers, agricultural sciences, environmental testing, and research in universities and industry.
For students who complete training in HPLC, there are many exciting career opportunities, including:
R&D scientists
QA managers and practicing chemists
Researchers in chemistry, pharmacy, food and nutrition, polymer science, and agricultural sciences
Life science researchers
Professionals in governmental and regulatory bodies
Environmental science specialists
The ability to operate HPLC is now considered a fundamental skill for chemists and technicians in laboratories. Recent surveys from industry and academia highlight a strong demand for HPLC training, especially for diploma graduates and working professionals who intend to join testing labs but lack hands-on training opportunities. This course was designed to fill that gap by providing a comprehensive and practical introduction to HPLC concepts, operation, and applications.

What You’ll Learn
This course will guide you through everything you need to know about HPLC and how it works. You will learn about the components of this instrument, the importance of the stationary phase (the column), and the chemistry behind separations. The content is designed for learners of all levels, regardless of prior knowledge.
I am Dr. Mohammad Abualrub, PhD in Chemistry, with more than 8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and over 4 years of experience teaching chemistry. I have been using HPLC daily in laboratory settings for more than 8 years, and I bring this expertise into the course.
Course Content
Introduction to liquid chromatography
How HPLC works
HPLC analysis
Components of HPLC
Column chemistry – stationary phase
System suitability
Starting and setting up the HPLC system
Determination of assay using HPLC
Method development
You will also get the chance to see a real HPLC instrument inside an analytical chemistry lab. I will demonstrate how to install a column, prepare the mobile phase, and run the system step by step.
New! HPLC Practice Test (30 Questions)
To strengthen your learning, this course now includes a dedicated 30-question HPLC Practice Test.
Covers all major topics: theory, components, column chemistry, assay, system suitability, and method development.
Designed in multiple-choice format, just like professional exams.
Helps you evaluate your understanding, identify weak areas, and build exam-style confidence.
Estimated completion time: 40 minutes.
At the End of This Course
You will test your knowledge with quizzes and the final practice test covering essential questions such as:
What does HPLC stand for?
Typical HPLC column dimensions
Pressure range in normal analytical separations
Commonly used mobile phases in HPLC
Effect of flow rate on separation
Materials used in HPLC columns
Most commonly used HPLC detectors
Isocratic vs gradient operation
How to control retention time drift

Dr Mohammad Abualrub
Hi, my name is Dr. Mohammad Abualrub. I hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Chemistry from Jordan, and later I joined the pharmaceutical industry, where I worked for nearly eight years as a Chemical Analyst in Quality Control and Research & Development departments.
I was then honored with the Malaysian International Scholarship (MIS), which allowed me to pursue my PhD in Organic Chemistry at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
After completing my doctorate, I served as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at a private university in Jordan for four years, where I taught General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Analytical Chemistry to undergraduate students. I have published several research papers in the field of chemistry and developed expertise in advanced analytical techniques such as Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) for drug analysis.
In addition to my academic and research career, I have been highly engaged in online marketing and digital entrepreneurship for the past four years. My skills include content writing, data analysis, website design, and online business strategies.
Above all, I am passionate about teaching and lifelong learning. I strive to inspire students of all ages and help them achieve success in both academic and professional life.

I have performed SEC-MALS before, so a lot of this is a refresher, but it's always good to learn concepts so I am not just running a lab technique.

This class is bringing everything together. A simple approach to learning and mastering HPLC process and application. Thank you Dr. Mohammad Abualrub!

I don't understand how anybody can rate this course below excellent. The course was presented in a simple and understanding way and yet very comprehensive and covered a wide range of aspects of the HPLC technique in a practical way. You indeed become a master in HPLC technique. It's a perfect refresher course. Thank you Dr. Mohammad Abualrub!

In the course so far, I have already learned everything that has been said from Wikipedia for free. The accent is difficult to understand at times but I am getting more familiar with some of the words. Some of the visuals are blurry at times which is a strain to look at. I'm hopeful that there will be new information that I have never heard before.

The course mostly focuses on the theoretical part of HPLC technique that can be found easily in many other sources but for me, the aim was to learn more practically about this technique such as showing exactly how we can run the process from the beginning to the end and how to treat th data and I think it would be more useful in this way

Thank you very much for all the information about HPLC. I really needed it. Only make sure the transcriptions are exactly of what you are saying because it mixes up with wrong words and bad spelling. The rest of the course is fantastic!! Thank you teacher.

So far, I have learnt in greater detail, the operations and procedures for HPLC - High Performance Liquid Chromatography. I have majored in Chemistry and Biology at the undergraduate level and currently pursuing a postgraduate degree in Biochemistry. This course has allowed me to gain more insight in the functionalities, components and analysis for this analytic technique. The examples given are easily followed once there is understanding for procedure and protocol.

After finishing this course in one sitting, there are lots of rooms for improvement. There should be simulation for the computer when you set the instrument parameters. Another is an actual used of SOP for the experiment. I pardoned the accent, but there should be a transcript. Finally, this is not a masterclass level. It is like beginner or intermediate. Over all, I thank the professor for sharing his knowledge.

This course was very helpful with learn learning HPLC as a beginner. At times I did have an issue with what the instructor was saying but with a quick rewind I usually could figure it out. The instruction is straight forward and the content is broken down into short sections that makes things easier to track. This is a good beginner's course.
