Do you want to supercharge your 3D modelling workflow with the power of automation? Then you've come to the right place!
Blender is an incredibly versatile software, capable of creating stunning 3D models. But, did you know that you can extend its functionality further with Python scripting? This course will get you started with Blender's Python API, so you can streamline your work and improve efficiency. Here are just some of the key skills you’ll gain during this course:
Familiarize yourself with Blender’s interface and core functionality.
Understand the basics of Python scripting within Blender.
Learn to write simple but powerful scripts to automate routine tasks.
Discover how to customize Blender to better suit your workflow!
This course is designed for beginners. But what does that mean?
We kick things off in a simple, beginner-friendly style, explaining all the steps in detail. However, if you are new to Blender or Python programming, fear not. You will be perfectly fine starting from scratch. With our online tutorials, you'll be amazed at what you can achieve, with instructor support and online help.
The course begins with a thorough exploration of Blender's interface and its core features. Then, we dive into Python scripting. We'll guide you through all the necessary processes to ensure your scripts run smoothly. You will apply your new skills to your own projects continuously. All project files, additional references, and resources will be included – you won't get stuck. We have talking-head videos along with screencasts for you to follow.
For each of the scripts that you write, you will:
Be taught a new scripting concept.
Be challenged to apply the lessons to your own scripts.

I am a self-confessed technology geek and love teaching people new things.
I think it is a real shame that so many people carry around such wonderfully capable devices yet do nothing but the basics on them. Computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones can do much more than most people know. I would like to guide, reassure and educate people about using their technology to add to their lives
I have been playing, yes playing, with technology for as long as I can remember and I still do that today! Admittedly these days with other commitments I do have to watch what I spend as technology can burn a very deep hole and quickly.
As my parents will testify, I have always been inquisitive! even if it meant taking something apart to see how it worked. Of course not knowing how to put it back together again. To this day I love learning new things and developing myself as a person.
Despite my tech background I remain firmly grounded and talk to people using everyday language, unnecessary techno-babble drives me bonkers. This allows me to chat with people with limited knowledge on a subject and help them understand more.

This is a great intro to Python. The instructor is very thorough and explains every step. It's not my first code experience-- I've worked quite a bit with Processing so I get the underlying concepts. I think some prior code experience would be helpful-- but it's a very good class.

This is an enjoyable introduction to practical applications of Python in Blender! I particularly like that you can see the instructor's approach evolving as he explores the problem, adjusts his approach and fixes mistakes. Hopefully this is the kick-off to a series of courses culminating in writing an add-on for Blender!

Very good introduction into Blender Python; going over many implementations and the foundation/theory behind the programming. The course can move fast sometimes and would recommend pausing and playing more often to fully understand the concept if you aren't familiar with programming.

This course is amazing, however if you are new to python i suggest u get comfortable with it 1st and then take this course, their is a free 12 hour python from Bro Code that i did, and because of that it helped me experiment more with what this course offers, i am so happy that i finished and understood how python works on blender, and i am confident on my next step. Everything is available so if you missed something just download the project and you are ready to go

Very good explanation of the topics and extremely interesting small projects. A very recommendable course on how to use Python within Blender, although it is good to have some prior knowledge of Python itself.

I rated this course 5 / 5 stars. Michael give a good introduction into using Python in Blender covering how to use code to engage many of the tools that are available in blender such as scaling, positioning, rotations, adding and deleting meshes, generating random numbers for positioning, and more. This being my first time writing Python code I feel like I now have a reasonable grasp of the basics and Michael showed how to find documentation so that I can learn more on my own. Since I have a little more exposure to Blender there are some topics that I wish had been covered in the course that I may end up looking for on my own. I would have liked to have seen Python used to create meshes from scratch or to manipulate a mesh's vertices in edit mode in ways that are more tractable with code than through manual manipulation of the interface. (Is this a Bmesh thing?) Likewise I'm curious about using Python for materials. Is there a use case for Python manipulation of Blender's geometry or material nodes? Blender is so huge I appreciate that one introductory class cannot cover everything, but I feel like Michael covered enough of the basics that after this class I should be able to take some next steps on my own.

Great course so far! It's great for someone like me because of my prior experience with creating python scripts in Maya. If you have no python scripting knowledge, I think this course might be a bit challenging for you. I would definitely recommend this course to someone who has some very basic python skills.

If you are expecting to see a course like MEL for Maya using python for Blender, this is not it. But for a step-by-step tutorial on Basic Python scripting for Blender, this is a very good course. Starting with section 63, Michael's style of teaching with clear explanations really shines. [Thanks for the feedback Michael, here is an Explanation] Back in 2005-ish (20 years ago!) Gnomon Workshop, California had created a MEL Scripting course for Aliaswavefront Maya that animated a Microscopic Pollen Scene, all using MEL. They seem to have removed that course from their online-shops. It used Billboards with particle systems, animating Camera DOF for a Rack Focus effect and other techniques all using MEL to create a convincing microscopic Animation. I don't know the limitations of Python in Blender, but it would have been very useful to do a similar project/course that used python scripting to combine mesh modeling, rendering and particle Effects in Blender.

Off to a cracking start with the course! Huge thanks to Michael for taking the time to make sure I'm all set up and good to go. Now, I'm delving into the second section and eager to roll up my sleeves. I'll give you the full lowdown once I've gone further into the source, but kudos for a great beginning. Cheers!
