An easy and simplifed way to teach how to model and value companies. I think this course can be useful for two groups of people: - beginners with little experience in finance and curious to find out more about valuing and modeling before taking a more detailed and complete course. - individuals already familiar with financial modeling that want to find out an easier and simpler way to figure out a Company valuation. Just an improvement I'd like to suggest for the class content: I think cash flow is pretty neglected and it would be worth spending a little more time on it.

Chris is a very passionate person who loves teaching and loves the topic of his lectures. This course is kind of a very brief recap of his longer course (The Complete Financial Analyst & Investing Course). So, this brief course alone won't teach you all you need to know about companies evaluation & analysis. It is very brief indeed, so suitable for someone who just wants to know the big picture without going into the details.

This is a mixed level course. On one hand there are assumptions about people knowing what a model is and how to set one up (i.e. tailored to non-beginners), while at the same time there is focus on what a cashflow statement is vs an income statement (i.e. tailored to beginners). Overall good summary but you may need additional resources if a beginner, or may not be worth the full time if somewhat experienced. Great as a refresher for interview prep!

It was one of the most interesting courses I've worked through in a long time. As I Brit, I've always liked the American method of learning - cut our all the jargon, remove all the complex explanations you find in some text-books and outline the basic theory in easy to understand language linked to practical real-life examples. The result: what appears from the title to be a very complex, suddenly becomes fascinatingly easy to grasp and generates an instant thirst for more. I shall be needing another shot a.t.s.

This was a very nice introduction to building financial models. The course really makes the process less intimidating. I do believe it was easier knowing some of the financial terms and having a strong mathematical application beforehand. My only comment for improvement is the captioning needs a lot of work - there were many obvious errors. (I understand this may be on Udemy and not the instructor). Thanks!

We need to do some more analysis on private companies and how to calculate cost of equity, Beta and cost of debt.

I don't have a finance or accounting background, so I was really drawn to this idea of learning how to value companies and build financial models the easy way. The instructor has a fun, easygoing, and upbeat narrative style which I really enjoyed. But, I thought the course length was too short. While I really enjoyed Sections 1 & 2, I thought the sections after that moved far too quickly ~ only scratched the surface. Section 2 was very informative and moved at a good pace for a newbie like me, I wished the remaining sections had moved at the same pace. I hoped to come away with more foundational knowledge on the topic. This course made me realize I want to learn more (which is a positive) but I had hoped for more in-depth content or explanations of formulas, spreadsheet, how to make and justify assumptions, etc. In fact, I had previously purchased the financial analyst course from this instructor ~ that looks to be more in-depth, so that could be a good fit for my needs.

Information Is concise and too the point, with enough information provided that I can follow along on a separate screen to follow the steps being taken.

By Christopher Ke on 3/13/2016

I understand it is supposed to be very simple but it was way too short and there's still a lot to be explained. I would rather he address all of the questions that would have been asked in additional videos. He should also produce the workings to his formulas and how he get certain figures so that it would be easier for everyone to understand. Overall, it is a good tutorial but lacks the additional content that would have made this a 5 star course.

Hands down. 5-star. I signed up for the course hoping to brush up my valuation skills for potential career in startup, VC or corporate development. I am glad I did, and this course exceeds my expectation! It teaches very easy-to-grasp but effective methods. Having learned CFA L1 and MBA (non-finance track), I find this course the most useful from practical standpoint: you'll be able to quickly value a stock like a pro, not bothering the nitty-grity of the less-useful stuff in the financial statements. You'll get the gist - "less is more". Also, the lecture is fun to watch. Chris is one of the most responsive instructors I've seen on Udemy. And his explanation is Christal clear. It's awesome to have an all-star VC investor to dedicate his time teaching here. I look forward to learning more from Chris!
