The lecture assumes that you have some knowledge of linear algebra, such as vector / scala / transpose, etc. You should also be able to google some terms or formula that you don't know, because the lecture will assume that you know differentiation of angle functions and euler constants.

Since this was my first course for DL, it definitely added some value. I started with nothing, so anything I learnt was an add on. Having said that it was not easy since I left Mathematics academically 22 years back.

The course is good at presenting what one will face in data science. However, if you don't have a background on Calculus, you will not make it. I passed calculus 2 and I struggled with this course a bit. This is definitely not for people at the algebra level. Calculus prior knowledge is required, yet not stated.

Yes, it was a good match for my current skills. The only thing that could be improved is the instructors handwriting. It is sometimes hard to differentiate the different variables from other variables. For example, z looks a lot like t in some of the equations. I also think there should be more exercises to really solidify an understanding of the other conceprts (e.g., neural networks, Newton Raphson, etc.)
