That's why you want to learn PHP too. And you came to the right place!

Why is this the right PHP course for you?

This is the most complete and in-depth PHP course on Udemy (and maybe the entire internet!). It's an all-in-one package that will take you from the very fundamentals of PHP, all the way to building modern applications.

You will learn modern PHP from the very beginning, step-by-step. I will guide you through practical and fun code examples, important theory about how PHP works behind the scenes, and a beautiful and complete project.

You will become ready to continue learning advanced back-end frameworks like Symfony, Laravel, Code Igniter, or Slim.

You will also learn how to think like a developer, how to plan application features, how to architect your code, how to debug code, and a lot of other real-world skills that you will need in your developer job.

And unlike other courses, this one actually contains beginner, intermediate, advanced, and even expert topics, so you don't have to buy any other course in order to master PHP from the ground up!

By the end of the course, you will have the knowledge and confidence that you need in order to ace your job interviews and become a professional developer.

So what exactly is covered in the course?

  • Build a beautiful real-world project for your portfolio! In this project, you will learn how to plan and architect your applications using flowcharts and common PHP patterns

  • Master the PHP fundamentals: variables, if/else, operators, boolean logic, functions, arrays, objects, loops, strings, and more

  • Learn modern PHP 8 from the beginning: arrow functions, destructuring, spread operator, variadic arguments, nullish coalesing operator, and more

  • Deep dive into object-oriented programming: encapsulation, abstraction, inheritance, and polymorphism. This section is like a small standalone course.

  • Dive deep into design patterns: MVC, singleton pattern, factory pattern, dependency injection, and PSR concepts.

If you want to learn modern PHP and eventually move to the Laravel ecosystem, this course is a great choice. It teaches the latest ways to build a raw PHP framework. Some sections might feel a bit robotic, but overall it’s well-structured with quizzes, exercises, and links to related blogs. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to learn Laravel, as it works well as a PHP prerequisite. One suggestion: the OOP section could use more detail, with extra problems and a simple project. Since the framework, part of the course heavily focuses on OOP and best practices, it would be helpful to have an OOP project before starting the main project.

This course is really excellent and very comprehensive This course includes c reating a framework, which is awsome, and also visiting the majaor attached design patterns which is also great. But the course should be muche more documented (regarding the framework construction) with, for examples, collaboration diagramms, to have a big picture of what is going on, and avoid being dived in programming details from the very start. The student must do a lot of work by him/herself, which, by the way is not bad. Anyway I core 5, because this course is quite comprehensive and well structured.

Starting from section 9, everything fell apart for me. The concepts became way too difficult, unclear, and there were just too many of them. It takes you through files and you end up not understanding anything, especially as a beginner. It feels like there's a significant jump in difficulty between sections 1-8 and the rest of the sections. I give a score of 7 for sections 1-8 and a score of 1 for the rest of the sections because they are not well thought out. The part about interacting with the database is introduced far too late, after you've already been overwhelmed by concepts that are completely beyond your understanding. I would have asked for the money back without any remorse, but unfortunately the 30 days have passed

Everything was really good excep the deployment section. The deployment section depends on you getting access to a free trial on a paid service or purchasing plan which at this point is $11USD which is expensive for users from many part of the world. Even signing up for free trail takes 2 days review waiting period. If we have an alternate option with free hosting service or any staaging hostign service like heroku, this would have been a 5 star course.

While beginning of the course was fairly easy to follow, the custom framework part felt like "learn to walk, now go kill final boss". But I feel like it prepared me to understand how php frameworks suppose to work and won't left me confused. Either way I feel the whole project adheres very good code practices and prepares student for real world projects. Good Job, and thanks for awesome journey Luis!

This is a great PHP course, perhaps even one of the best ones available on Udemy. * The course is carefully structured and organized, and it covers beginning (variables, functions, data types) to advanced topics (OOP, PDO). * For the major project you don't just build an app; you also build a web framework with router, template engine, database connection and query methods, etc., meaning that you get to learn a lot about backend programming. * The instructor is active in the Q&A forum. He is very helpful whenever students are stuck or have questions. I only have two suggestions: 1. When we are creating a project with so many files and classes and parts, it's easy to get confused about how the different files work together to create the application. Once in a while it would be nice if the videos reviewed how a group of related files work together with a flow diagram. 2. It would be better, I think, if the deployment section at the end of the course used a free hosting service rather than a paid one (currently the course points students to Cloudways, which doesn't have a free tier). Overall, though, this is a great course, and I would heartily recommend it to anyone wanting to learn PHP.

I learned a lot during this course. It might have seemed like it moved a little quick sometimes, but when you go back and actually look close you learn a lot and in learning a lot it just seems quick, but the time is needed to understand. As you go through, things you thought were like "What??" becomes like "Ohhhh, now I see why". So if you just trust the process he goes through you come to understand things you never thought you would.

I'm really astonishing with the quality of the content, explanations, presentation, accessibility... I mean wow! Really outstanding! It's the first instructor who really dives into the docs and teach how to read them. I'm half way of this course and till here I've been very pleased on what I've being learning. Luis teaches you not only the language but the whole process on programming, clean code, good practices and understanding what we're doing with the lenguaje. It's very focus only on PHP and it's tools. Congratulation Luis, good job!

Very interesting course. The big difference to other courses is that we created not just an app but our own framework too. Yes the difficulty curve spiked a bit once we started tackling the development of our framework with the app development at the same time but trust me by the end of the course all things make much more sense. Thank you Luis. BTW: I'm currently studying your course on VUE and I like it so far.

Pros: 1) So far it is very solid course, it feels like a proper high-effort product. 2) It is up to date - which is a big plus compared to some other Udemy PHP courses which are pretty much reuploaded outdated courses from the past. 3) There are many good hints on style, structure, useful resources, docs and other stuff to make you a better dev. - Cons: The main problem this course has - is the significant spike in difficulty when the project starts. It feels, like there should be something in-between PHP fundamentals and the final project. There should be at least one bare-bone, minimalistic, but still deployable app, that deals with minimum amount of tasks (like super basic routing and crud) , and prepares you for a bigger project, while showing you what are the benefits of more advanced structure and approaches. Currently it is easy to become overwhelmed with the main project, as it is has a lot of files, folders and layers - if you are both new to OOP and PHP - you probably gonna have troubles following along and keeping it all in your head. -- Another issue - voiceover. It is hard to keep concentration for long time, when voice over is so robotic. == Updated: The master project is not just flawed, as I initially stated, it is very bad. A huge amount of "incremental updates of codebase", which at this point is about 20 files large, mostly without clear visible examples, without showing clear results, with mostly "theoretical" hints that "this is more efficient", "this is better in long run", "we need to update that" etc. This is not a proper project to learn programming. It is inefficient slog, that makes you waste huge amount of times and efforts to follow along, instead of properly teaching separate things. So, essentially, instead of efficient advancement in specific techniques, you have to constantly revisit files to keep track of everchanging codebase. Will update it later, but currently the state of this course is following: - good "PHP fundamentals" part . - really poor master-project part.
