Outdated course. It was prepared in July 2015 and has not been updated since then.

The instructors use of few phrases are too repetitive and distracting like "I hope this is okay for everybody". Sometimes it feels like she is reading out of a book and doesn't care to explain few terms she uses. Would be more helpful if she explains those. The examples given are good and provide good exposure to people who are new to this.

I would not recommend this course. I don't really appreciate the presentation. Most of time you will have to wait while tutor typing an example in console making lot's of errors. What a waste of time. Lot's of things are not really explained. You just see the example which do some thing and that's it.

some concepts are not explained in detail. Hive is now ACID complaint, so course is not updated

This is a very good course for some one who wants to start with Hive. Tutor does a great job of executing every command covered in this tutorial and explains good to But for an intermediate to expert user, lot of things like tuning , when to use which format , CBO, stat , laterval views and more advance concepts are not covered.

This course covers the different aspects of hive, as a student , we should take it from there and read more about the topics themselves (a good book is the hadoop definitive guide). It would be nice if the practice files were attached to the class itself to make it easier to import the data into hive. I would recommend this course to others.
