Course Description
Welcome to “CompTIA Pentest+ PT0-002 (Ethical Hacking& Pentest) Prep Lab” course.
CompTIA Pentest+ Certification Prep with Penetration Testing (Pentesting) & Ethical Hacking for certified ethical hacker
CompTIA PenTest+ PT0-003 is a vendor-neutral, internationally recognized certification for cybersecurity professionals who want to specialize in penetration testing and ethical hacking. It validates skills across the entire pentest lifecycle — engagement planning, information gathering, vulnerability discovery, exploitation, post-exploitation, and professional reporting. PenTest+ is the only exam on the market that covers all stages of a pentest while also addressing vulnerability management as a discipline, not just exploitation.
What sets PenTest+ apart is its practical approach. The exam combines performance-based questions with multiple-choice, testing real tool usage and scenario-based thinking — not just theory. It covers today's most relevant attack surfaces: cloud, APIs, web applications, wireless, IoT, and hybrid environments, and carries DoD 8140 approval for professionals targeting government and enterprise roles.
This course covers every PT0-003 exam objective from the ground up. No experience needed — we build your skills gradually, starting with core concepts and moving into hands-on exploitation, scripting, and professional reporting. Every tool, every technique, and every exam domain is covered with practical examples in a real lab environment.
What You Will Learn:
Pre-Engagement and Scoping: Understand how professional pentest engagements are structured — defining scope, rules of engagement, legal considerations, and client communication before a single packet is sent.
Information Gathering and Enumeration: Perform OSINT, DNS reconnaissance, port scanning, and service enumeration using Nmap and other professional tools to build a complete picture of the target.
Vulnerability Scanning and Analysis: Run and interpret vulnerability scans, understand CVSS scoring, and prioritize discovered weaknesses based on risk and exploitability.
Attacks and Exploits: The core of the PT0-003 exam at 35%. Get hands-on with network exploitation, host-based attacks, web application hacking with Burp Suite, privilege escalation, authentication bypasses, and wireless attacks.
Cloud and API Penetration Testing: New in PT0-003. Learn how to identify and exploit misconfigurations in cloud environments and attack modern API endpoints the way real attackers do.
AI-Based Attack Techniques: New in PT0-003. Explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping the attack landscape and what penetration testers need to know to stay current.
Post-Exploitation and Lateral Movement: Simulate advanced adversary behavior — maintaining persistence, pivoting through networks, dumping credentials, and moving toward high-value targets.
Scripting for Pentesters: Analyze and modify real Bash, Python, and PowerShell scripts used in penetration testing — a critical skill for PT0-003 performance-based questions.
Pentest Report Writing: Produce clear, professional reports that communicate findings, risk levels, and actionable remediation steps to both technical and non-technical audiences.
By the end of this course, you will have the knowledge, hands-on skills, and exam confidence to pass PT0-003 and start working as a professional penetration tester.
What is the CompTIA PenTest+ PT0-003 certification?
CompTIA PenTest+ PT0-003 is the current version of CompTIA's penetration testing and ethical hacking certification, launched in December 2024. It validates real-world skills across the full pentest lifecycle — scoping, reconnaissance, exploitation, post-exploitation, and reporting — for cloud, web, wireless, hybrid, and on-premises environments. PT0-002 was retired in June 2025.
What is new in PT0-003 compared to PT0-002?
PT0-003 introduces AI-assisted attack techniques, deeper cloud security and API exploitation, and updated post-exploitation and lateral movement content. The exam domain weights have shifted — Attacks and Exploits now accounts for 35% of the total score. The overall structure has five domains compared to PT0-002's previous layout.
What are the PT0-003 exam details?
The exam has a maximum of 90 questions combining multiple-choice and performance-based formats. You have 165 minutes to complete it and need a score of 750 out of 900 to pass. CompTIA recommends 3 to 4 years of hands-on security experience, though this course is structured to prepare you regardless of your starting point.
What penetration testing tools will I learn in this course?
The course covers Nmap for scanning and enumeration, Metasploit Framework for exploitation, Burp Suite for web application attacks, Nessus and OpenVAS for vulnerability scanning, Wireshark for packet analysis, and Bash, Python, and PowerShell for scripting — all aligned to the PT0-003 exam objectives.
Is PenTest+ recognized by the U.S. Department of Defense?
Yes. CompTIA PenTest+ is an approved certification under the DoD 8140 framework, the successor to DoD 8570. This makes it a valued credential for cybersecurity professionals pursuing roles in government agencies, military branches, and federal contractors.
How is PenTest+ different from CEH and OSCP?
CEH is predominantly theory-based with multiple-choice questions. OSCP is a fully practical exam requiring you to compromise real machines under time pressure — it is significantly harder and more advanced. PenTest+ combines both approaches, tests the complete vulnerability management lifecycle, and is vendor-neutral with DoD recognition. It is the most practical entry point into professional offensive security.
Is this course suitable for beginners?
Absolutely. The course starts with foundational concepts and progressively covers more advanced topics. You do not need prior penetration testing experience. If you have a basic understanding of networking and operating systems, you will be well positioned — but even complete beginners can follow along and succeed.

In addition, I am an adjunct instructor in a university and teaching cyber security for years.
I involved in technical areas and has taken responsibilities in:
Penetration tests (Pentests) and security audits
Cyber security training & consultancy
Source code analysis & secure software development
Cyber security incident response
Information security management system (ISMS) consultancy
Open source cyber security systems, such as OpenVAS, OSSEC, OSSIM, Snort, Suricata, mod security
I'm creating my courses by using my know-how and 10 years of experience. As a result, our first course "Hacking Web Applications and Penetration Testing: Fast Start!" has gained "Best Seller" reputation in its category.

Really good walkthroughs of the tools. It’s helpful to see them demonstrated step by step rather than just reading about them.
