Course Description
As part of this course, you will learn all the Data Engineering using cloud platform-agnostic technology called Databricks.
About Data Engineering
Data Engineering is nothing but processing the data depending on our downstream needs. We need to build different pipelines such as Batch Pipelines, Streaming Pipelines, etc as part of Data Engineering. All roles related to Data Processing are consolidated under Data Engineering. Conventionally, they are known as ETL Development, Data Warehouse Development, etc.
About Databricks
Databricks is the most popular cloud platform-agnostic data engineering tech stack. They are the committers of the Apache Spark project. Databricks run time provide Spark leveraging the elasticity of the cloud. With Databricks, you pay for what you use. Over a period of time, they came up with the idea of Lakehouse by providing all the features that are required for traditional BI as well as AI & ML. Here are some of the core features of Databricks.
Spark - Distributed Computing
Delta Lake - Perform CRUD Operations. It is primarily used to build capabilities such as inserting, updating, and deleting the data from files in Data Lake.
cloudFiles - Get the files in an incremental fashion in the most efficient way leveraging cloud features.
Databricks SQL - A Photon-based interface that is fine-tuned for running queries submitted for reporting and visualization by reporting tools. It is also used for Ad-hoc Analysis.

This course was a solid match for me as someone exploring data engineering tools and workflows. The instructor explained concepts like Spark, Delta Lake, and cloudFiles clearly, with practical, hands-on examples that helped bridge theory with application. I appreciated how the course covered both the foundational ideas and Databricks-specific implementations. The pacing was good for someone with basic Python and data concepts background, and the cloud-based labs made it easy to follow along without complex local setups. Overall, it gave me a strong starting point to build real-world data pipelines in a databricks environment. I'd recommend it to anyone aiming to get hands-on with modern data engineering frameworks and cloud-native tools.

It would have been good quickly touch upon basic cloud topics before we use Cloud infrastructure

Detailed coverage of a very complex topic. The knowledge acquired in this course helps create prototypes and test environments that can be used for further learning, experimentation, proof of concept executions, etc.

It was fine when actual coding started in pycharm, but before that it was too confusing where IAM roles and policies were created, it seems like we lost within policy and Roles jungle, there should be clear and slow message why and where roles and policies being created. Speed of explanation should be reduced so that audience can digest it

It's good course for starter as it focuses on extensively on hands on. But it lacks in depth of concepts, it barely touches all topic, but no deep dive. It would be better, if there are following modules explaining 1. cost model of databricks 2. what is DBFS ? How it works ? 3. Best practices around platform 4. how automatically deploy, monitor, debug a production application.

it was amazing learning experience if you are new to databricks and aws, as he talked about many services that can be leveraged through databricks along with few important aws services.

Excellent course! But it would be much better having real example of loading data from several sources/ The course gives the beginning knowlrdge of how things are done, but the cherry on top would be the mini-project. E.g. we have two different sources, pushing similar entity to DataLake and we need to join them to build silver layer. It should show how real deals are done with DB. And also this course has toooo much repeats in videos which student should scroll cause he already seen it many times. Such as 'copying files to s3' and so. They easily can be replaced by text, describing what we have done and the result we are expecting to see, and this can be in form of notebook. Also there could be description what to do with *.dbc files attached in main course description. Also i should say that speech transcription frequently differs from teacher saying and what teacher saying sometimes differs from Classic English spoken language due to strong accent, but to the end of the course i get used to it =) Nevertheless the course is Great! Thank you Very Much!
