We are the data migration team collecting data from legacy systems and bringing it into the new SoA applicatiom. Our team is in the middle, between teams that are creating new elements in the data model and the report generation teams, who use that data for public reporting and analysis. So, all aspects of data governance are of interest to us.

The concepts were presented clearly, and breaking down complex topics—like data ownership, quality controls, and compliance workflows—into practical steps was extremely helpful. ​We’re already looking at how we can apply these frameworks to our daily workflows. This course, as it is titled, offers a comprehensive overview of what data governance is, what data governance is not (which is also equally important), and why businesses of all sectors should implement it. I had no idea what the answers to any of the aforementioned questions were, and now I have a basic, solid understanding of what they are. Georgi Smarts explained these basic concepts very well, although his delivery was sometimes not strong enough to hold a person's attention. I also thought the data governance implementation phases 1 through 7 were explained in too great a detail for a beginner's course, and dragged the latter half of this course significantly. However, taking the test at the end of this course and passing it on my first try demonstrated that I learned and retained a lot more from this course than I assumed that I did. While not a perfect course, I still learned a lot from it and am glad that I took it.

Very in-depth explanation of all the data governance concepts. Found the templates very useful and handy, especially for people who want to start their career in data governance.
