Data integration (ETL) with Talend Open Studio (Udemy.com)

The contents are well explained; sometimes the audio quality is not really good and the experience can be a little bit frustrating but at a certain point you get used of it.

I can understand the subject but there could be a few things which can be improved. The sound quality is poor and not audible or some times fast. Also if he can use the MOUSE highlighter it will be helpful. At one point the presenter is talking about one component and all of a sudden he jumps to the other component without proper explanation.

My experience has been very good and the course has been very useful, for the quality of the content and the level of the teacher. I have not given the highest score because the course does not have any kind of assesments (tests or assessment of coding), which I consider essential in a 5-star course.

It's a good review of the tool and it provide some examples, this is exactly what I was looking for :)

Summary: A good basic introduction to Talend Open Studio. However, there's a good bit of info that goes by too quickly, or where the files don't match. Pros: I do really appreciate how he says which methods are the easiest/most useful, as well as which functions you can ignore because they're not helpful. Closing the Palette after his suggestion was great, it saves me a lot of screen real estate. Cons: (1) Sometimes he goes through things way too fast. Most of the time, you can figure it out, but an explanation would be extremely helpful. It appears he was just operating Talend the way he normally does it as a user, only narrating as he goes - and sometimes the narration goes by so quickly you can't really hear it. Instead, it would be useful to go somewhat more slowly, with explanations of what he's doing and why. (2) Also, the files he says are there, aren't always the way it's described. For several cases, the objects are in some other place. Sometimes, once you import them, the files reference non-existent drives such as "I:". In other cases, the objects simply don't exist in the download files. In the regex lecture, the job does not exist anywhere that I can find. (3) Perhaps worst of all, the instructor seems to have lost interest in keeping the course up to date. The best Udemy instructors answer questions their students ask and regularly put out updates. In this case, the instructor appears to be AWOL. (I would be happy to be proved wrong.)

the instructor is very knowledgeable, his style needs some work, for example too many button clicks without explanation.

very Good. It is really useful training to me. He is quite knowledgeable in the Talend components and appreciates his effort to perform the training. Audio was good. However, some screens not able to view text and other component images and also he is going very fast in some of the chapter. Thanks Udemy for posting useful training like this.

The course gave me a good overview of Talend Open Studio - so I liked the course... with a few BUTs. The instructors pronounciation is a bit "mumbled" when it comes to component names and so one has to guess, which component the instructor might have placed on the job board. BUT then the resolution is soooo bad that one can't simply figure out what "tMumble" was placed onto the board. (eg. Lesson 9) This was at the beginning a big piss-off for me. As one gets used to the components it becomes easier and the source is also there. The one lesson that explains the regex component is another piss-of marble. How to complicate a regex further - make a 2x2pixel video of it... really... I was laughing out of hate... and would have almost ended the course at this very spot. Luckily I didn't... The source was not always in sync with the video-material (was missing - meanwhile corrected; sometimes it did not reflect the beginning of the lesson but the end state of the lesson, which was confusing). Sometimes the instructor does things blazingly fast because it is the most natural thing to do for him. But for me it meant to figure out frame by frame: What pixel did he click onto... what is in that region on my screen? Does this make sense? etc. I was missing a few basics at the beginning, which you take for granted, except for one I can't remember which. The one I can remember: Please add a video: How to import your chapter demo files - for your this is basics - for me it took some time how to properly do it. As I said: The material covered is very good. An excellent starting point. Not always easy to follow due to screen resolution, pronounciation, presumption of base knowledge. But together with the internet and the help system I could work through the material. Thumbs up from my side.
