Course Description

Join the "DESIGN THINKING TOOL BOX". This course is ideal for you if you already have some basic knowledge of Design Thinking and would like to deepen, supplement or refresh your methodical knowledge.

If you are completely new to the topic, I recommend that you first do my "DESIGN THINKING CRASH COURSE" (also on Udemy) and then this advanced course

Spend around 4.5 hours to get your certificate*:

  • 3.5 hrs of video content to watch

  • approx. 55 min to complete the course assignments

  • approx. 5 min to complete the final test (quiz to test your knowledge)

What can you do after the course?

Solving challenges with Design Thinking, leading Design Thinking processes and facilitating Design Thinking workshops. After this course you will be well versed in design thinking processes. You can apply design thinking to challenges and also teach others. You are able to put together the appropriate methods for a design thinking process.

What are you getting?

You will receive complete step-by-step instructions on how to use Design Thinking to solve challenges in the areas of product, service, business, organizational and corporate strategy in a creative and agile way. You will get a variety of tried-and-tested methods and templates with which you can carry out a design thinking process independently and facilitate design thinking workshops. As with the Design Thinking crash course (also on Udemy), you can again work on your challenge in parallel (an option, not a must). The main focus of this course is to expand your methodological skills.

The course includes:

  • 3.5 hrs of video content with a focus on design thinking methods

  • A downloadable course handout (pdf)

  • 50+ relevant methods in the context of design thinking

  • 25+ downloadable and reusable design thinking templates (pdf and ppt) - for working on a challenge at home, in your company or in a workshop - as a workbook and for use in workshops (I give you my permission for further use)

  • NEW: Brainstorming with Artificial Intelligence (AI) - Experiment with ChatGPT and other AI Tools

  • Numerous examples from Design Thinking projects in practice

  • My best practices for facilitating design thinking workshops

  • 2 live design thinking interview examples (one good example, one bad)

  • Classification of design thinking in an agile strategy context (Stacey Matrix, BMC, Lean Canvas, agile project management)

  • Demonstration of prototypes examples from my consulting practice

  • Short tutorials and tool tips:

    • NEW: ChatGPT and ai.boardofinnovation (brainstorming experimente)

    • Balsamiq (wireframing)

    • Figma (mockups)

    • Bubble (no-code tool for advanced digital prototypes and minimum viable products (MVP))

I think this course provides almost everything for Design Thinking already. It's very good for anyone who heard and a bit familiar with the framework but feel unsure about which methods you should use in any phases.

By Adrianno de Andrade MacIel on 3/16/2025

Adorei. Os templates irão ajudar a melhorar utilizar o design thinking em diferentes situações. Recomendo! Muitas alternativas para desenvolver uma oficina ou mesmo um curso de longa duração

By Neha Jain on 12/30/2024

I think we lost the track of example we picked initially. The tools should have been used by trainer to make the concepts more clear.

By Vildana Razumova on 11/26/2024

The cource is awesome! For me as a non-native English everything was clear and useful! I have only one note, could you please recommend some free and perfect tools for 100% remote teams. Thank you so much!

By Gyle Genoso on 7/14/2024

Yes, it's good and I've been rewatching videos to further absorb the techniques. I like that there are assignments per phase to apply the learnings. But it would be great to have the assignments accessible via ipad or phone as well.

By Eric Nowak on 2/14/2024

Perfect start! Still you could improve by using a lavalier microphone, it is pretty hard to understand your words in noisy situations with background noise or cheap small speakers. There are also good tools to post-process your records, but recording it correctly from the beginning sounds much better. (Example: iZotope Dialogue De-Reverb)

By Nilesh Thever on 10/27/2023

the lectures looks promising and initial explanation from stacey matrix is very convincing. I trust the future lectures in this course will be very beneficial. Thanks Julia

By Ninad Subhashchandra Kulkarni on 10/16/2023

Yes. It just validated my thoughts about when we can get most benefits by using Design Thinking based on Stacy's complexity Matrix or Cynefin Framework. Developed very good understanding of brainstorming methods

I am a professor and teach courses like AI in Business, Digital Transformation, and Design Thinking. I always love to watch and learn from other teachers who deliver the courses of my interest. In my career, a few teachers could impress me with their teaching, and “Julia” is one of them. I came to know about the course offered by Julia. Undoubtedly, she left a deep impression on me. First, I learned several things that I could incorporate into my teaching, in fact, already incorporated. Second, she is sincere in teaching and “sharing” what she knows. This trait – teaching and sharing – is rare. Third, I found she accepted the truth at every moment of teaching; for instance, she launched the course without thinking much, and later, she improved it based on feedback. Yes, I very much agree with her that feedback, whatever it may be, should be taken seriously. I apply a similar approach when researching and publishing it in scientific journals. I submit it to the journal for review the day I complete the first draft. It gets rejected with feedback. I improved the paper by considering feedback seriously, and it gets published in 2-3 iterations! Julia, keep it up and all the best!

By Manoj on 6/1/2023

I got a general idea of design thinking. Various brain storming techniques are explained. All look great to me. Learned different approaches and now, its time to do it practically.
