Digital changed the world, businesses were turned upside down, and COVID-19 in 2020 has accelerated this trend. Consumers have unprecedented access to information and services that change how they are seen as customers. Digital disruption is all about how this has happened, the winners and losers, and the new rules of the game. Digital transformation is all about how individuals, firms, and governments are responding, changing their habits, ways of working, and expectations of any relationship. These are radical shifts that everyone needs to understand and continually anticipate in the second half of the digitally exponential chess board. All 12 lessons in the course include a handy worksheet that you can download and which summarises the key lessons for your application and future reference.
In this course, I’ll be engaging you 1 on 1, as well as providing you with visual insights and downloadable resources to support and embed your learning. We can also engage around the course content and once you’ve enrolled you’ll have access to it as I keep it updated. I’ve researched these topics in my Ph.D., written extensively about them on my blog, and spoken about them at international conferences. I’ve also had to adapt to them in my own life in the same way that you probably have. I look forward to seeing you in the lessons and please remember to rate and review the course. It's a privilege to be part of your learning journey.

"What an amazing course! After finishing this course, I have confidence. Thank so much Dr Peter Alkema" ... "This is exactly the jump-start I needed. Very clear and concise"
I lead Digital Transformation & Architecture at ABB and I've been featured on CNBC Africa and won the Gartner CIO Of The Year in 2016. I founded and led the largest banking hackathon in South Africa which was published in 2019 as a case study by Harvard Business School.
I've taught over 100,000 students about technology, business, academics and self-development. In 2020 I completed my PhD at Wits University In Johannesburg. The study introduced a ground-breaking theory of Agile software development teams. My woodworking book was published in 2014 and has sold over 10,000 copies.
Olugbenga Gbadegesin: "Excellent delivery" / Lebogang Tswelapele: "This is what I have been longing for" / Paskalia Ndapandula: "Peter speaks with so much clarity" / Amantle Mangwedi: "It was straight to the point and the sections are cut into nice short segments which made it easier to go through" Kathy Bermudez: "Excellent material. Well organized..."
Werner van Wyk: "Thank you Peter, once again your lesson and course have given me so much knowledge and understanding" / Yvonne Rudolph "I really look forward to take everything i learned in action" / Josephine Mahlangu: "exactly what I needed to know, absolutely valuable and helpful for my personal growth"

Lots of material and good insights. I can tell Peter is very passionate about this topic. This course ended up being a lot longer than I expected and felt like it took me like 40-60 hours to complete vs. most Udemy courses which take 5-10 hours to complete from what I've experienced with other Udemy courses. Felt like a lot of material was redundant and the course could be condensed.
By Scott Cornish on 7/20/2024
I found the first part of the course on digital disruption to be excellent. All of the topics were covered very well. Personally, I didn't get much out of the hackathon sessions. I found them choppy and difficult to follow.

Good introduction. A lor of energy from Mr. Alkema. Great examples from real life. Mr. Alkema really leverages on his own experience and well known industry cases to illustrate how the Digital transformation is impacting every aspect of our lives and every industry.

I learned the most from the code fest live video recordings. The rest of the course (to me at least) was superfluous and redundant at times. There is certainly some valuable material in here but it could have been synthesized much better.
By Andrew Mulligan on 1/2/2023
Lot's of information, but the lack of interaction/practical exercises eliminates the possibility of providing a better understanding of the material and falls short of student engagement especially when the course is centered around leveraging digital technology.
By Noe San Juan on 10/10/2022
It has been great to learn many new concepts, data and information about digital disruption; at the beginning of the course the concept "Digital Disruption" had not much meaning, but now it is very much clear
By Peter McKenzie on 9/19/2022
Being a person that was born in the 60's I've seen all these transformations before my eyes. I still have cassette decks and CD/DVD players. Now everyone is all about streaming services.
By Gian Miguel Obierna on 9/9/2022
This is a good course especially for people 40+ years above to get a good scope in the digital ecosystem. Those that rely on old school methodologies, this will be a whole new perspective for them
By Becky Ditmer on 3/4/2022
Enjoyed the lesson of exponential growth; very complementary to other value messages on Long Term Value from WEF. Growth is more than one measurement and measured in more ways that monetary. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
By Ben Van Der Merwe on 12/23/2020
Peter covers Digital Disruption extensively; it is broad based in nature and dives deeper when required. An update may be required for the rapid advancement of AI (e.g. Copilot and ChatGPT) over the last 5+ years.
