Course Description

In this course, we will build a completely customized eCommerce / shopping cart application from scratch using Django & REACT with the following functionality...

  • Full featured shopping cart

  • Product reviews and ratings

  • Top products carousel

  • Product pagination

  • Product search feature

  • User profile with orders

  • Admin product management

  • Admin user management

  • Admin Order details page

  • Mark orders as delivered option

  • Checkout process (shipping, payment method, etc)

  • PayPal / credit card integration

This is not a documentation-type course. This is a jump in and get your hands dirty course where by the end, you have an actual real-world project to use and put on your portfolio. You will learn the following by completing this course..

  • React with Functional Components & Hooks

  • React router

  • React-Bootstrap UI library

  • How to structure components

  • Component level state & props

  • Managing global state with Redux (Actions & Reducers)

  • Using Redux state in components (useDispatch & useSelector)

  • Creating an extensive back end with Express

  • JWT authentication (JSON web tokens)

  • Custom error handler

  • Integrating the PayPal API

  • Project deployment

  • Much more!

This project is a collaboration with Brad Traversy where we will be taking his original MEARN Stack ecommerce course and building it out with a Django backend instead of Node, JS & Express. Brad & I decided it would be fun to remake the exact same project with a Django backend/API and connect it to the same React frontend/design.

My hope is that you learn how not to only build out this application but add on your own features to it. We learn best by building & customizing our own projects.

The course was exactly what I was looking for, so it was a great match. I would have given 5 stars if the course had been updated to the newest releases of react and some of the other packages. Still, I would highly recommend it and there is value in learning how to fix some of the issues that come up with the newer releases (and you can always specify the older releases when you install so you can follow the course without any workarounds).

The course was very good in the sense that it touched a lot of topics for learning django and react compatibility. Only downside was that there was a lot of outdated modules that needed to be learned separately especially on the react side. Preparing for this course with the exact react and bootstrap versions noted would've gotten an extra star from me. Overall great course!

Incredible course. Probably the best one I have gone through on Udemy so far. At least for what I was looking for. Still could have added social login, email authentication etc., to the course, but that is for us to implement I guess and you can only ask so much from an instructor. Great audio, clear neutral accent. I have gone through this multiple times. Great job!

This is one of the most complete courses I've ever taken. I completely recommend it. The only downside is that Dennis is no longer answering questions, though almost every single one is solved by other users. There's one issue with the lesson 71, with the Product Image Upload, there seems to be some kind of problem with Django and content-type multipart/form-data, since it won't let me upload the images (It throws back a BAD REQUEST) Other than that, yeah, you should totally buy this course. I've learned a lot!

Amazing course. Learned a lot. However, if you do not want any interruption, then install the packages that the author used. If you're going to install the latest packages, then you need to make a few changes. The Q&A section of this course answered most of the issues. Happy Learning, and Thanks to Dennis Ivy for this excellent course.

This is the best Django React course I have ever taken, very well structured. I've actually learned so much about react, I had no prior knowledge with React now I feel more comfortable wit it. But it is missing something important, a Reset Password functionality, if you could add it that would make the course very complete. Thank you for this amazing course.

This is the Best Django and React Course In My Life! I just started and finish my ecommerce-website using other payment method and adding more screens. I was first time to learning React and Redux system, but when I getting through this course, I started to automatically realize what's going on in front and back!

I feel like many videos have to be re-done and split few long videos into half and explain more clearly. However i appreciate Dennis efforts making this project in Django, He has done a lot of work. If your'e thinking to buy this course let me tell you that you should have past experience with django and made few good websites. you will get a lot of errors and you should debug on your own. I feel like if there was dedicated team to answer to questions it would have been better. Since instructor doesn't answer, we have to help ourselves, if there was a team to answer question's i'd have rated this course with 5 stars.

Coming from a strong Python background, this was super insightful. Would not recommend to pure beginners. (Never wrote a line of code) I do wish the deployment was on AWS rather Heroku. It's really weird to have a db on AWS but deployment on Heroku. That's why I took a half star off.

Really nice. I will do it again. Because I am quite new on React. A lot interesting things and useful tips. Everything worked for me. It will be interesting 2 learn 2 things : How to get all the product page made with a script, and not mannually (like with a scrapping code or something else? To be able to make the reviews only if the user paid and received (delivered) the product.
