This course mainly taught about simple chords and test the learners' listening ability to recognize the notes; doesn't help if one wants to learn piano, not recommended

Arthur is a fantastic teacher! This is the second course I've taken from him (the blues class is top notch). It was interesting and useful and as always thoughtfully presented. Overall, a great intro to ear training. Some suggestions: 1) it would be great to follow this up with a part 2 since by the end of this course we can identify white key chords and melodies but not more advanced chords like those you discuss in your chords class. 2) Even without an official part 2 consider adding a brief section with a few resources or suggestions on where to go next. 3) It would be really nice if you had a list of progressively more difficult songs you suggest we practice your listening techniques on . You don't necessarily even need to play them, just a youtube link would do. Or perhaps you know an app that generates something like this? Unlike your blues piano class, in which I can keep practicing the exercises indefinitely and get better, the exercises in this course can only realistically be used a couple times. 4) When the technology becomes available consider cloning yourself so you can produce twice as many classes and I'll give you ten stars :-D

I was one of those students who was told by a teacher that I was tone deaf when I was only 12. She demanded that I lip sync words in choir so my classmates wouldn't get off-tune because of me. For that reason, I resisted learning anything about music... I'm retired now and bought myself a piano to keep my brain active. I started taking piano lessons which stopped because of COVID 19 shelter in place orders. A friend found Udemy for me. I am so surprised how much this course has helped me improve my own listening ear. It allows me go at my own pace, repeat and slow down sections until I get it right. I love this course---thank you. I highly recommend Arthur Bird. He has set up this course so it feels like a private lesson although we've never met. Wonderful!!!

This is a very good introduction to ear training. All the concepts are very clearly explained and demonstrated. The follow up tests reinforce all the important principles.

Very easy to follow along. He makes a seemingly complex matter easy to approach. I have improved my hearing already only halfway through the course.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I've always liked the idea of playing by ear, but when trying to figure out a song I'd never know where to start. This is taking me step by step through the process. Very enjoyable so far.
