Course Description

Jazz Piano - The Ultimate Beginners Course for Piano & Keyboard will get you playing some cool jazz sounds in no time at all!

Most methods of learning Jazz piano don't cater for beginners. This course takes a fresh look at learning jazz by following simple steps that anyone can use.

It starts with the basics, and so you don't need any previous knowledge on the  to be able to follow along. Even if you have learnt piano previously but would be considered a beginner in Jazz, this course is also suitable, as lot's of the methods throughout the course aren't taught in traditional/classical learning environments.

Want to be able to improvise Jazz on the piano?

Throughout the course you will learn specific scales and arpeggio's, and I have designed special exercises that build in difficulty as you progress, ultimately giving you the skills to be able to improvise over the top of classic jazz chord progressions.

Wouldn't it also be cool to be able to understand and play all those complicated jazzy chord symbols on lead/chord sheets?

Using simple and understandable methods, you'll learn all about jazz piano chords, chord extentions, quartal harmony, chord voicings and much more. We even take a look at some lead sheets (sometimes known as fake sheets) so you can see how you can make rich jazz piano sounds by just following chord symbols. You'll also learn about comping, exploring using different rhythms that you'll eventually be able to use with songs of your own choice.

What else?

One of the best ways to truly take on board what you are learning, is to apply it properly, and so throughout the course you will get the chance to learn excerpts from famous jazz songs such as Autumn Leaves (famously covered by Bill Evans), Fly Me to the Moon, Herbie Hancocks Cantaloupe Island and So What by Miles Davis.

I have transcribed the scales/exercises and songs into piano notation for anyone who can read music, but again you don't need to be able to read piano sheet music to take the course as I have written out the names of the notes for those who can't.

Extra help with your learning!

The course comes with supplementary material in the form of PDF's that you can download and print off to have handy at your piano or keyboard. This way it makes it easier to practise the songs/exercises etc by being able to have them up on your music stand, as well as having the lesson info/chord finding methods easily accessible so you can continue to learn jazz piano outside of the course.

So why not enroll today, and learn jazz piano the easy way?!

Hello Arthur ! I love your lessons, I am a granny and love jazz since adolescence ! I like the overall structure of the course. I find it gratifying that I can play a real jazz tune, and that we are encouraged all along to experiment practically the teaching materials. I feel that I am finally playing some music. Thank you very very much !!!

Overall, just what I needed to fill in gaps in my understanding and lay out a framework for practice. My only complaint is the choice of notes used as examples in the soloing sections. There were A LOT of avoid notes played. But overall, this course was great for me and is a good launching point for further study. And what a great value!!! I would have spent 4x that for a single lesson! Thank you!

It’s a great course. I have basic piano skills and am totally new to jazz. The teacher is fantastic, his explanations are clear and I like the fact that there are lots of written materials as well. It’s great that the theory is also taught through well-known songs. I highly recommend this course to everyone who would like to familiarize themselves with basics of jazz.

This was a most amazing course. I know I will be going back to so many of the lectures over and over as I try to get more comfortable with these techniques. I am a retiree who loves jazz and I am a beginner. What he has demonstrated here is exactly what I had in mind as a goal for my piano playing. Thank you so much for sharing your craft!

Very good course and works well for complete beginners. I knew only basic scales and few chords before this. Practises and fun and your learn a few songs during the course. I got a basic knowledge of jazz and built up muscle memory playing the keyboard, so now training songs outside this course is alot easier :)

Very good, excellent, your explanations on how major and minor chords, 7th and Dominant are build is the best I've come across, even the A-minor Pentatonic scale explanation was brilliant, I love jazz standards, I think within the next few days, I will be playing Autumn Leaves... Great!!

One of the best courses I have ever done. Arthur explains the content in an absolutely understandable way and even with my lack of English knowledge I was able to follow him well. I have learned a lot and repeat the course content again and again. Thank you for this course and I look forward to more from you, the Blues course is also very good. So thumbs up and I can absolutely recommend this course!

Excellent course! Built up with nice musical challenges. A great teacher who knows how to do his job as a musician and as a teacher! Really learning a lot again. With so much fun and excitement. Regularly I am surprised by how far this course brings me. Check out all his other courses too. They all have the same good quality!

Excellent, I have already passed grade 6 classical piano and wanted to try jazz piano with no prior experience and was able to greatly improve my knowledge of jazz theory and ability to play in a relatively short amount of time. Lessons are a good length and ensure that you feel like you've learnt a new skill at the end of every one. Very good teaching style takes you through step by step and I now feel that I have a template for improvising that I can use for a long time.

This course is just what I needed. I've been studying for just over a year now, signed up for a few courses--my retirement present to me--but I needed some music to go with the theory. The teacher is wonderful, and always ready to answer questions whenever I need help. Thank you!!!
