What a fantastic course to help me get familiar with the Key Concepts for Elasticsearch. I would highly recommend this course for anybody starting out on their Elasticsearch voyage of discovery. Thank you!

This course is excellent for beginners. The content is very precise and well-explained, making complex topics like Elasticsearch and Kibana easy to understand. A great starting point for anyone looking to learn the ELK stack!

Decent, deliberately designed course. The instructor walks through most aspects of the applications with clarity. However, the course either needs to be updated or is straight up missing content. First, the course should include an optional pathway for installing and running ELK using Docker. Or, rather, the non-Docker way should be optional. I understand that the point of this course is not to teach Docker or cURL, but the documentation for ELK leaves virtually no room for using the executables to test the applications for free, so I think it behooves the instructor’s company to make some videos for it in this course or to make and recommend a different path for learning ELK with Docker. Docker is not new, so I am surprised that a course updated in 2024 does not even mention it. It would also be useful to have a lab on incorporating an Elastic cluster into an application run by and fronted by Python or another common data or web dev language. Some people may not have the option of deploying a web-based Kibana dashboard into production, or may need the Elastic features for specific use cases. Again, that path could be optional. The most egregious oversight was the setup of the resources folders, which include the data files with the logstash config files. First of all, the logstash syntax was out of date. Second of all, the data files are not supposed to be in the same folder. One more time, it could be that I’m using Docker and the instructor is not—but if you use Logstash with Docker, it apparently automatically reads every file in the folder you try to mount to your container as a config file. Only after an inordinate amount of time and frustration was my troubleshooting able to ferret this out; the course instructions and files did not set me up for this (and the Logstash documentation did not make this obvious, either). I would think that one of the top recommended Udemy course on ELK would make some mention at least of Docker, and adjust instruction accordingly.

In logstash I would have liked to get a better thorough tutorials. The labs are great but feels like they lack a lot in complex filtering techniques and the KQL language

This course is a great introduction to all of the ELK Stack. You get to understand the use of each tool and learn how to use them. The instructor speaks clearly and gives excellent explanations. I highly recommend this course if you want to understand the ELK Stack in depth.

This course is very effective to learn ELK++ with hands on exercise on actual instance with data. Voice is clear and concise to the point of course component. Very easy to understand and practice. Would recommend anyone beginner or intermediate user to go through this course.

I am new to ELK stack, but I feel the course is covering all the basic concepts of ELK to help create a foundation on it, the explanations provided with Lab tasks is very efficiently designed for a newbie like me to understand. Thanks!

A very good course covering the capabilities of ELK stack, examples, features and labs. Demos helped me understand the concept better. I am happy to take this course. Can add some quizzes to check the knowledge.

Many things in the first few sections are glossed over as though you should already know them, like app-specific UI navigation, meaning of search terms, etc. Especially in the beginning, you are given the direction "go here" where "here" is the last click in a flurry of clicks that are not explained or done at a speed where someone should be expected to follow unless they already understand. Later, search parameters are given but not clarified. it is assumed that search terms are simply understood without any meaningful explaining. I didn't start to feel like things were being properly explained until Section 4. If the goal is to complete a lab by copy pasting so you can move on with your day, this is fine. if the goal is to learn and understand, this is not fine. I will try to update this as I go along because hopefully my opinion improves. but the initial frustration has been off-putting. Originally 2.5 stars, increasing to 4 since the course does improve in later sections.
