Master Financial Statement Preparation, Ratio Analysis & Financial Dashboards Using Excel’s Most Powerful Tools

Our take
Based on the ratings of 375 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in August 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.
This is a finance course taught through Excel's data tools. Irfan Sharif, a chartered accountant, shows how to bring in a trial balance, relate tables in Power Pivot, and write DAX measures that feed a profit and loss statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement and statement of changes in equity. The syllabus runs 94 lectures over about 10.8 hours, with dashboards and horizontal and vertical analysis near the end. It is aimed at accountants, analysts and finance managers more than casual spreadsheet users.
Reviewers mostly like it. They mention detailed, step-by-step teaching, useful DAX and data modeling, and a dashboard section one called a detailed walkthrough. One student with no finance background said they still picked up advanced Excel. The complaints are mild but real. One reviewer found it extremely difficult for people who are not fully prepared, and the course has no quizzes or coding exercises, so practice means following along. The rating is 4.4 from 375 reviews, with 208 five-star and only 10 below three stars.
The content was last updated in August 2026, which matters for a tool-heavy topic like this. About 4,200 students have enrolled. It makes sense after a basic Excel course and some accounting knowledge, and it is a poor first step into either. One reviewer expects it to improve their reporting models significantly, which fits the course's focus on cutting repetitive work. Anyone still learning what a balance sheet is should start elsewhere.
Pros
- Builds P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and equity statements that refresh through DAX
- Reviewers praise the detailed, step-by-step teaching from a chartered accountant
- Three dashboard sections run over two and a half hours, plus horizontal and vertical analysis
- Updated August 2026, with 375 reviews averaging 4.4 stars
Cons
- No quizzes or coding exercises, so practice means following along on your own
- One reviewer found it extremely difficult without solid preparation first
- Ratio coverage looks thin: one six-lecture working capital section in the syllabus
It's an amazing course and i have learned many excel tricks and DAX formulas and data modeling in excel.
Listed for all levels, but it assumes basic Excel and financial reports; one reviewer called it very hard without that.

This course is a comprehensive guide to mastering DAX using accounting datasets. The visualization section offers a detailed walkthrough to creating a powerful dashboard. It was a good course and I'm looking forward to deploying these skills in my future projects.

This is a very good course refering to accounting, however it could be extremely difficult especially for those who are not fully prepared.
By Noman Afzal on 10/11/2023
Best course with clear understanding. I have taken Power BI Financial Analysis and Financial Reporting course of Mr. Irfan, which has deep and detailed learning, similarly, as this Accounting Analytics .... course started, I found same level of energy and detailed learning.

I liked the course. I wish the author of the course spent more time showing us more complex charts! But overall, the course was amazing! 10/10 would recommend over and over again!

I need help in downloading power pivot.

Good class, but your P & L and Cashflow PBIT do not match. And I couldn't be able to understand your value-type in CashFlow_St. Though it is a nice hack, could you elaborate on it? Can you provide reference material in your lesson by updating it on Udemy? Just add an excel sheet, all the items in cashflow with their respective value_type. It would be a great help. Thank you.
