Our take
Based on the ratings of 2,480 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in July 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.
Irfan Sharif is a chartered accountant, and the course reads like it. It assumes the reader already knows what a P&L and balance sheet are, then teaches Power BI and DAX by building them from one general ledger. Over 14.4 hours and 123 lectures it moves from sales analysis to the cash flow statement, statement of changes in equity, trial balance, budget versus actual and foreign currency conversion. Power BI Desktop only runs on Windows, so Mac users are out. About 15,500 students have enrolled.
Reviewers like the step-by-step approach and the habit of showing the finished report first. One says the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow built from the supplied ledger tied perfectly. The complaints are specific. Power BI's menus have changed since recording, so screens don't always match. One student found the moving average formulas divide the first two months wrongly. Another says the budget data doesn't reconcile to the statements. The harshest reviews mention steps that failed in the provided file, unanswered questions, and finishing without the skill to design a good dashboard.
Most ratings are strong: 1,370 five-star and 855 four-star out of about 2,480. The course was updated in July 2026, which helps, though two reviewers still flag menu drift. There are no quizzes or exercises, so practice means following along, and one reviewer found the pace a bit fast. Accountants new to Power BI will get the most out of it. Anyone who mainly wants polished dashboard design should plan on a second course.
Pros
- Builds P&L, balance sheet and cash flow from one ledger, and one reviewer says the numbers tie
- Covers finance-specific topics like budget vs actual, foreign currency and horizontal and vertical analysis
- Starts from zero Power BI and teaches DAX by redoing the P&L with it
- Updated July 2026 and taught by a chartered accountant
Cons
- Power BI menus have changed since recording, so some screens no longer match the videos
- No quizzes or exercises, and one reviewer found the pace a bit fast
- One reviewer says it repeats itself, another that it leaves dashboard design thin
The course is great, enjoyed it. Built P&L, BS and CF based on actual GL data provided in the course and it tied perfectly.
Listed as All Levels, but it assumes basic knowledge of financial statements. Power BI itself is taught from zero.

Awesome course! The practice is real learning for DAX and analysis. He makes it soooooooo clear and simple. I mean, I am visualizing ratios, % sales, and assets and so other calculations more in bulk — it's like if I eat his course for dessert, and I'll feel like the smartest man.

The course is great, enjoyed it. Built P&L, BS and CF based on actual GL data provided in the course and it tied perfectly. Requesting to share a complete budget that can be used to build budgeted PL, BS as well as Budget Cash flow. Currently shared budget data does not match Balance sheet level as well as P&L level.

A great course covering a wide range of topics. The concepts are explained very clearly, and what is especially important, the correctness of each Power BI solution is always verified against the results by the instructor. I sincerely recommend this course! It would also be valuable to include a lesson on forecasting based on budget data and actual performance.

This is a great class for anyone working in accounting, budgets, or FP&A. Most Power BI classes focus on data analytics, which is great, but this class is one of the few classes with an emphasis on financial statements and building financial statements from a GL and Chart of Accounts. The instructor does not use DAX very often, which is fine if you are new to Power BI, but it is a less efficient and effective way of working.

This course is great for any accountants or FPA professionals wanting to build or analyse financial statements. However, I recommend taking other PowerBi courses that explain the fundamentals of Powerbi and DAX prior to taking this course. This will let you get more from the applications of Powerbi covered in this course.

You know for these moving average formulas. There is a problem that the moving average is not suitable for the first two month in 2018, since you directly divided the rolling 3 month's amount by three. it will be good if the first two months can be divided by the count of previous existing 3 months. Or you can just hide the first two months.

Irfan did a great job in this course! I enjoyed building all the financial reporting, analysis and dashboards from scratch using true inputs retrieved from ERP systems- GLs and trial balances. I loved the fact that all the content is developed from the accounting/financial viewpoint, compared to other courses which are more focused on the BI/data perspective, and leaving the financial concepts somewhat aside. Finally, Irfan demostrated his knowledge and expertise in accounting and financial analysis throughout the course.

I find this course very helpful. The tutor has planed the steps very thoughtfully. I didn't have any problem following his instructions. I enjoy learning from the VDOs as I can pause it any time when I need more time to internalize some topic or rewind to the step that I am still not sure about. This way I can learn more efficiently. Thank you for offering this course.

This course is very useful for finance person as it takes care of integrities which are faced during processing data with power BI. We are so used to working in excel and it is difficult to come out of that shell. This course helps in broaden the horizon and shows possibilities with power BI
