Good course. Thanks to author. Minor drawback is the installation process. Installing packages manually on several nodes is not an optimal way to setup a cluster in real world. Taking into account that mariadb has official image on dockerhub, you may consider using some kind of orchestration like docker-compose, kubernetes, helm.

Some information in this course is outdated when comparing to MariaDB current and latest stable release version. Had to do some googling since there have been some file location changes and config file contents have been changed to different config files.

As someone who has just started learing about Clustering/Replication, I feel the teacher has given a good breakdown of the concepts, the certification process, isolation types and snapshot modes. The practical section where you build the Galera cluster tied the first 6 sections together nicely and was given at a good pace. I look forward to the remaining sections...

it's a good course. But not complete It less how to install and configure haproxy and implemente the component. When you have a problem with cluster, we can't show how to see where is the node is the most up to date (last_commited). And when started, you can loss data if you up the lasted How backup it and restore the node. See in log STT or IST. You can't explain queue and how see lag network. You can't explain gcache etc ... You can't explain how upgrade node You can't explain wsrep_sst_auth with xtrackup or mariadbackup This lesson it not complete. It's for beginer and dangerous for beginer (loss data)

It'd have been nice to see more on replication. Any patched production system is using mariabackup for replication not rsync. More on the differences between xtrabackup and mariabackup and the specific requirements for setting up a replication user would've been a nice addition.

A very good match. Clear and detailed and I was able to follow, understand, and set up a cluster. What would be great to add is how to set up new nodes when there are a large number of large databases to establish on a node.

This was a good introduction to the Galera and was easily worth the money and time. This is one of those courses that keeps things simple and compact, making it possible to learn the stuff pretty quickly without making it a burden. The course most likely improves further over time, filling the minor gaps here and there, but they are really not an issue considering the limits a 2-hour course has. It's much easier now to go through the official documentation and learn the rest of it.

As MariaDB developer i want to setup staging mariadb galera cluster so this course was helpful. But i think two topics must be included then the course will be best refrence to setup galera cluster. 1- How to start, shutdown, restart the cluster safely? restart the cluster / bootstrap and other steps to consider when restart the cluster 2- HAProxy setup and configuration, i think it can be best to have videos on load balancer.
