GarageBand Tutorial: Beginner's Guide to Music Production (Udemy.com)

Very informative with an added twist of encouragement as it goes along the training. He detailed quite a bit in this course and because of it I’m encouraged to use garage band more often as an easier route to produce tracks versus using my Reason 10.0 for the moment.

It was until the "no homo" comment came out at 16:45 in video number 17. Wow...was really loving the course and content until then. Just wow.

The course doesn't seem to address what it promised to. So far there has been nothing about how to create your own beats. For clarity, beats refers to creating sounds with drums or other percussive instruments. All this guy does is play around with the arpegiator creating melodies, not beats. He does use the premade drummers in Garageband, but that also doesn't deliver the promise of the course title of making your own beats, which is what I wanted to learn. Also, the lectures, as he calls them, are very unstructured and close to thought-flow. The 12 minute videos could be condensed down to 3 to 4 minutes if he stayed on topic and didn't do his own exploration of the tools in Garageband at viewers' expense. This whole course has been a waste of time for me.

The instructor is thorough with each lesson. It feels like it's for me, as a beginner. It doesn't go over my head.

Just in the intro but ready for the experience... thankful to have people that are willing to help and a big thanks to Joseph Evans Jr. to break it down for a noob so to say hahah, PEACE!

He's fun to listen to and watch because he jokes around and dances, but it makes learning all that much more better. I've learned a lot!

Seems thorough in everything he does, still just introductions though so can't really say yet. Does seem a little slow getting started, but that may just be a good thing, actually...

Great beginner course, going at a perfect pace for me, though I sometimes skipped sections about stuff I already knew. Joseph explains everything clearly and focuses on what matters. Guess I'll check his other courses on udemy.

I don't know what it is with Mr. Joseph Evans Jr but every course he does really makes me want to finish it! I honestly cannot say why but he "gets under your skin", if you know what I mean :-) When you finish the course, you really get the message he wanted to pass... I guess that his great personality does this kind of magic! Concerning this particular course, I got exactly what I wanted: I just acquired an iMac because of GarageBand (I am from a Windows background, but this is another story...) and wanted some kind of fast start into it. I now know my way around the program and the rest is yet to come... Joseph: THANK YOU wholeheartedly for yet another brilliant episode and for sharing your enthusiasm about GarageBand!
