This is a short, foundation-level tour of Okta for admins. The syllabus shows 53 lectures across 11 sections, about 2.8 hours of video, plus written lessons and lab exercises you run in a free Okta trial. It covers creating and importing users, Active Directory and LDAP integration, groups, SSO and provisioning, custom app integrations, Universal Directory and the policy framework. Thomas Mitchell, an IT veteran who also teaches Azure and Active Directory, leads it. It suits people who know a little IAM and AD and need to get started.

Reviewers like how short and plain the lessons are. They mention step-by-step written instructions, a good balance of theory and practice, and an easy way in for newcomers, including one person who knew little about SAML and SSO beforehand. The complaints are consistent too. The course was last updated in February 2021, so screens and settings no longer match the current interface, and one reviewer points to the newer OIE. Others say the pace is fast and high level, that a few steps just send you to Okta's docs, and that the groups and rules section is too thin.

Getting Started with Okta is a foundation-level course geared toward System Administrators or anyone responsible for configuring, integrating, and managing Okta.

Students who complete this course will know how to create, import, and configure users and applications in Okta. Students will also know how to configure directory integrations, multi-factor authentication, and self-service for end users after completing this course.  After completing this course, students will also be able to create and manage groups, group rules, password policies, and sign-on policies.

Although this course is not intended, specifically, for exam preparation, everything that you learn in this course can be used to prepare for the Okta Certified Administrator exam.

The information that was presented within this course will be very helpful since I work a local Texas company that has deployed Okta. I choose the four stars because this is still new to me and still getting an understanding of okta and as I stated we use Okta at the company I work at and this really helped me a lot.

The entire course is great, the explanations are simple, the examples are simple, the way the instructor delivers the documentation and create the labs is just great, this is 200% worth for the price and to be honest this is the first course i have liked from Udemy. For more creators instructors Thomas Mitchel!!! I was able to create a cloud account for mounting the server, the okta account, dropbox etc etc.

I think that course can improve if videos are shown where changes are made. Ex. What happens when we have 1 or more policy's that have a conflict? How to solve that problem? Videos showing how does the EU sees this on his end. In general is a great course but I think it can go a little bit deeper

This was a great course to get a good background in Okta. Would be great if there were a couple more sections on API integration showing how it works at both ends. Also maybe another section on additional workloads being added ( salesforce etc... ) This is just a suggestion m very good course !

I had no idea about OKTA before taking this course. Now, I can confidently say I have gained Admin level / Basic level knowledge on this tool. It covered everything an OKTA admin needs to know. I am totally naive about OKTA or specifically about IAM, before starting this course. This course gives a simple but effective foundation on what is OKTA and how to play around with this confidently by performing basic and neccessary tasks within it. This instructor is awesome in explaining concepts and demonstrations with short videos. Highly recommend this course to those who thinks of getting into the world of OKTA.
