Course Description
React is the most popular library for building frontend web applications. Step-by-step by diving into all the basics, I'll introduce you to advanced concepts as well.
We'll build the minesweeper application from scratch:
setup of the development environment
configuration of the React JS app
basic algorithms of Minesweeper
We'll build the minesweeper game. During the course, we'll cover the most important topics.
First will be a configuration of the ReactJS application with Typescript and using build tools Webpack+Babel.
Second, there're presented TDD or TLD approaches that I'll try to practice with you during the coding sessions. Probably you don't have enough experience with the tests, but it's ok, there's still a good way to learn it from the course. When you work with code and cover it with test cases, it provides you with guarantees that your code works as you expected. This is the purpose and benefit of the tests.
Tools for testing: Jest, Stryker, React Testing Library
Also, I'll try to cover basic Typescript concepts and show you a way to improve these skills. During the coding sessions, we'll cover advanced Javascript techniques to make sense of commonly used JS features.
Storybook is the most popular way to build the components library. From our side, it's the most basic part of the course. We'll install and configure Storybook, which will provide us with a full components spec. This approach is called Components Driven Development.
CSS-IN-JS, EmotionJS, and Styled-Components are very powerful toolkits to build UI components. Even very complex component styles can be easily produced and supported by it.
We'll introduce you to React Hooks - it's the basic way to make dynamic UI for the applications.
We'll make review React Router v5 and also React Router v6.
GitHub Actions makes it easy to automate all your software workflows, now with world-class CI/CD. Build, test, and deploy your code right from GitHub. Make code reviews, branch management, and issue triaging work the way you want. We create our deployment workflow!
Last but not least it's Redux. Redux is a beautiful way to manage an application state. We'll use the Redux-Toolkit library - it simplifies the work with Redux.

This course taught me how to create a fun React app via React hooks vs. useReducer vs. Redux. I found it extremely beneficial because I've interacted with React code at work that uses Redux, and it was good to understand the tradeoffs from ground up. Nick explained the technical concepts (e.g. pure functions) well. I really appreciate the emphasis on TDD. It's the first time I've worked on a course and achieved almost 100% test coverage. Typically there is much less emphasis on tests. Great intro to Storybook and Stryker as well. Thank you Nick for a great course! A few caveats for folks interested to take this course: It does require some basic coding experience to follow along. Also it was slightly painful to have installed the latest NPM packages and follow along with the older NPM packages (e.g. Storybook). The packages used in the course are a few years outdated. It really required a lot of StackOverflow search to fix these issues. It would be nice if there are git commit tags that match each section for easy reference.

I wish more attention was put onto explaining the logic and reasoning for the code rather than just presenting the code. I am disappointed, the teaching style is this poor for a Udemy course, I got to the end of the field generator part (section 4) and don't feel like continuing. At times it felt the language barrier is part of the problem. However, if the course was structured better, I feel this would have been less of a problem. The sections need a learning objective and outcome at the begining of each. I am a seasoned React developer and was trying to use this course to refresh/improve. I now realise this course was not for me.

I just finished section 3. This course covers the tech stacks that most companies are using these days. My company uses React, Typescript, Babel, Webpack, Jest, and Storybook..and these are all covered in this course. So far so good. The most important and good thing about this course is that Nick answers your questions pretty quickly which is a huge game changer. I will update my review as I progress the course.

I am not a beginner. This course moves too fast for beginners and maybe a few intermediates. Several times I had to go back and find out what I did wrong. The material here is not forgiving. Wow, I like this minesweeper game you created and I am giving you a great rating. Great rating for algorithms as well!

Decided to take this course to be more familiar with Typescript in React and see more testing (most courses on Udemy don't teach testing with React, which in my opinion is almost a crime). I really enjoyed the setup for this course (doing the whole webpack/eslint for instance) which is very rare in other courses. The only thing I find regretable is the app in itself. If the author had created a common business app this would be the best React course on Udemy (I highly advise him to do so). Also, I think the test mutation was not very convenient. Even so, this is a unique course that will teach you a lot of things that other React courses don't, so I advise you to take this course if you have the time and is interested in improving your react with typescript skills. Also, the author really cares for the course to be updated.

Hey Nick! just want to say that this is by far the most solid, reliable, and best course I've ever had in Udemy. thank you for the hard work and contents that you put in this. There is one more request from me personally, Please create more course covering some advanced + real world stuff about React.js and TypeScript. Thank you my man!

I haven't completed the course. But so far it's very good. Regarding the accent of instructor, some may complain that it's not pure native English, but actually it's clear enough to understand. Different people from different countries have different accent, so it doesn't matter as long as it's clear enough to understand. The instructor know his subject well and explains everything in a comprehensive way. Thanks a lot for this great course :)

Minesweeper is a non-standard application. I hate todo app that every time you can see in the other courses. Minesweeper is complicated for development but not too much and I like it much more than todo The author is not a native speaker and sometimes it confuses me but is not critical. I can understand his explanation.

This advanced react course is beyond my expectations. I am very much impressed with the course structures. He covers all things with a detailed explanation. The most important part is Nick (instructor) responds so quickly, within 1 hour he came up with his solutions. Also, Nick updates this course regularly.
