Hebrew For Beginners (Udemy.com)

It has been truly an amazing amazing experience. I took up the interest in learning hebrew less than 5 months ago. Started with short hebrew for beginner together with ancient hebrew. My aim was just to know more about the history and eventually read the bible. The first course was too superficial leaving many gaps and questions. When i got into this course i couldn't stop and kept wanting to go on and on. Almost addictive. Cos u make learning so effective. It got me to listening to hebrew worship songs which i enjoy so much especially when i get to figure out one line or words from the lyrics. So, thank you very much. However, the audio to some lectures are pretty soft. And if i open the videos using the udemy app i cant read the pdf from the resources. So i had to open course material from browser. No matter, so long as i get to access the material.

It is easy to see why this is amongst, if not, the most highly rated Hebrew course on Udemy - with this course you get authentic Hebrew speakers giving you a foundation that is sure to last and serve as the basis for becoming a top Hebrew speaker. There are many aspects of this course that are brilliant but I would like to point out the lessons about sentence structures, where color coding was applied to highlight the individual words and their corresponding English meaning - this had the brilliant effect of showing that verbatim translations are not always possible between both languages. Finally, my tip to enjoying and making the most of this course, is to master the aleph-bet (alphabets) and the niqqud (vowel system) before proceeding to other chapters. I highly recommend this course.

I give 5 stars and very happy. Nevertheless, I would like to make couple comments: 1. Writing on the presentation board should always be done using Sharpie fine point marker and not a fat marker. This will present all letters in clear form. 2. Improve pronunciation of letter ר (Resh). Sometimes it sounds like R and sometimes it sounds like L even within the same paragraph. The pacing is perfect. Honestly, it looked a bit low budget in the beginning but it is really is done very well.

A very good course that really gives you the basics to build on. Very thorough on the alphabet and teaches you handwriting both in print and cursive. It is an excellent introduction, and I'm looking forward to doing the next course in this series.

i think it will be. Eager to see what handouts are available. Would have liked one for the pronouns just reviewed.

New insights

So far this is a review of what I learned in ulpan long ago. It is very clearly presented and I am finding it helpful. Update 11/15/2020 I just completed this course. It was a perfect review of the Hebrew I learned on the ulpan in Israel way back in 1982! I had forgotten a lot, but this made it easy to recover what I had lost, and now I feel confident to go on to a more advanced course. So glad to have found this that I became a supporter.

So far so good. I'm left handed so this seems very natural. I'm SO glad the course is being taught by a native speaker of Hebrew!!
