Students confirm that this course help: "It took me months to learn some new stuff before. I can learn complex computer topics only in three days now! And to master in some specific topic I require only one month now." Navis Michael Bearly

This course works. It is backed by actual scientific studies done to investigate how people learn, how they remember, and how they utilize time. I have taken what these studies have to say and combined it with over 25 years of personal experience (24 years student, 20 years teacher and lecturer) to develop study techniques that will allow you to study less and learn more.

This course is actually three courses in one. I cover brain function, time management, and study skills each in their own module so you aren't faced with a massive overhaul of your study practices. You can incorporate one technique, see the effect it has on your study time and your performance, and go on to incorporate the rest of the techniques one at a time.

Only some details had to be changed in last three years. It describes the quality of the course!

I provide a broad range of information in this course, and that will be satisfactory for most of you, but if you would like to take an advanced course or read some specialized material, you're more than welcome to do so. I provide information on many additional resources on given topic at the end of each section.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The course consists of 39 lectures, nine quizzes, and nine podcasts. In addition, there are several self-evaluation tests designed to help you understand your abilities so you can target areas of weakness for extra work.

The length of the lectures varies from two minutes to five minutes and it's possible to watch them all in two hours. I recommend, however, that you do not do so. The way to get the most out of this course is to take each module separately and incorporate it into your study routine before moving on to the next section.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The course is aimed at high school students and freshman college students, but will be of use to anyone who wants to improve his/her study skills.

I guarantee that you will see some results immediately after applying these techniques. You'll want to continue through the whole course. Many of the techniques require diligent practice, but you will be able to see the results right from the beginning and feel your confidence rise as you progress. You should see your grade improvement at the end of your term while practicing these techniques.

This course will teach you:

  • How to manage your time.
  • How to take notes effectively and efficiently.
  • How to improve your ability to remember facts, figures, and dates.
  • How to effectively utilize the resources you have.
  • How to recognize what is important and what isn't.
  • The basics of deeper learning.

Most of all, this course will teach you how to be the best student (whatever age you are) you can be by finding the right balance, using the right methods, and working with the right motivation and the right timing.

Instructor Details

Vít Skála, Ph.D.

What I have learned during last 20 years of my study, working and fatherhood experience, the most important for each person is to recognize his/her individual specific abilities and skills. Main decisions are usually made during high school. Happy people are those who recognize their special abilities (gifts) as young and use them in dreamed job. Unfortunately, many people do, what not fit them fully and they are in inner struggle many years. Some even whole their life.

I worked with hundreds of people of all age as a facilitator, manager, coach, teacher, trainer. I have spent roughly 23 years as a student in different kinds of schools (universities in Brno, Prague, Vancouver). I taught at Charles University in Prague and have taught dozens of business courses above on “project management” and “time management” as well. I am a doctor of public and social policy with Certificate in Education and coaching. This deep background helps to build the course that is more than just describing different study techniques.

I also have two children (boy 19 and girl 16), and both of them are excellent students. Also thanks to applying methods presented in my course.

I wish this course content was available back in my high school and college days. Even though it is geared towards this age bracket I was still able to pick up many helpful techniques that I can use in my "post" educational learning and staying abreast of upgrades in my profession.

I knew some of the things in the course but overall it was good.

Pros: lays ground work for studying does have helpful detailed information in external links Cons: only covers topics in general has tests for eg. different learning styles but doesn't cater for different learning styles in much detail The ideas in here are very general. after the links to the learning style and right-left brain test he goes over the different aspects of studying (eg. taking notes, writing cheat-sheets...) without paying much attention to specific learning style needs instead only covering them in general. The external resources and books are very helpful on the other hand and do go into great detail. not a comprehensive course but lays the ground work efficiently.

this course "how to study efficiently " is a great course to help students to study, prepare, breakdown tasks and ensure they are prepared. My daughter does not wish to listen to my tips ( typical kids don't learn from their parents syndrome) but she soaked up all these tips, determined by using the questionnaire herself the she was a visual type learner (which I did tell her), basically kids don't like to learn from their parents, this is a excellent course to bring your and new study points / techniques over to your child - thank you so much for your course

By Kelvin Summers on 1/21/2018

Loved the fact that the coursed emphasized the importance of discovering your individual learning style and that it is the foundation of learning effectively.

By Kennedy Esochaghi on 12/23/2017

So far the information is great, am practicing it and so far positive.

By AnthonyL on 8/27/2017

Even though, I am only in section 3, lecture 9. I truly believe that this information is indispensable, a must for any age, and especially anyone desiring to learn anything including about yourself.

By Jan Valeš on 9/29/2015

Very concise course, well organized, grounded in solid information. I love the animated pictures! Course helps to apply what some people may already know or intuitively understand. For the first time I really made some "obvious" conclusions about my learning - and it helps!!! Based on my experience of teacher at the university level I recommend this course to everybody. More experienced people may skip few lessons...
