Course Description
Artificial intelligence systems are only as strong as the data they learn from — and increasingly, that data comes from real people with real expertise. This course explores how domain professionals are helping shape the future of AI by contributing their knowledge to train, evaluate, and guide large language models (LLMs) at scale.
Whether you're a lawyer, researcher, analyst, developer, or financial expert, you'll learn how your skills can be applied to the growing field of human data work. We’ll cover what LLMs are, how they’re trained, and where human input fits into the process, especially during post-training stages like reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF). You’ll also explore examples of tasks that require human judgment, what makes this input valuable, and how models learn from it.
Through the lens of micro1, a global platform that connects certified professionals with cutting-edge AI projects, this course also introduces how talent are selected, what certification looks like, and what kinds of opportunities are available.
By the end, you’ll have a clear understanding of how your expertise can help shape the behavior, accuracy, and safety of AI systems used around the world, and how to get involved through micro1.
No prior AI experience required.

It makes Micro1’s role in this field clear and shows how important expert input is in refining AI models. There is still work to do before these models can consistently produce reliable and trustworthy results, let alone achieve AGI.

The content is excellent and very relevant to AI evaluation work. My only suggestion is to improve the narration. The AI-generated voice is quite monotone, and a more natural, engaging delivery would make the course much easier to follow.

The course includes a clear oversight of working with Micro1 and provides enough detailed content to be useful to people new to working with AI, while not be overly verbose or loaded with technical jargon.

Fue una buena elección, el curso contiene información muy relavante para incorporar sobre como los LLm son entrenados por personas humanas, y como se realiza este proceso de entrenamiento.

This has helped me to better understand what LLms are and how they are trained. It also helped me see my contribution and the questions at the end of each chapter were thought provoking. I am excited to contribute to LLMs

Yes! it is a good match for me for at least one very important reason; it helps me understand how human expertise is so valuable in developing smatter AI models and it sure help me prepare for my next micro 1 interview.

It has laid a solid foundation for me to understand my roles and contributions in training AI models. Most importantly, why humans play a role in improving and perfecting AI output to suit the relevant solutions it is to offer to its users

Failing my first AI interview activated my motivation for learning. This course has met my expectations; my curiosity was quenched. The role of human data in developing LLMs was explained in simple language, though technical. The unfolding of technical concepts opened my mind to see I was learning a new English, AI variety of English. Learning this variety aligns with my profession as a language teacher. This awareness prompted me to retake the course to recycle the concepts in my mind for them to stay. As a visual learner, I liked the written notes on top of the audio. I could pause and read and even reread.

This is a must for anyone who was recently hired and should be part of the on boarding process. It explains a lot of questions I had and gave me better knowledge to shape what we were doing as experts and occupational reviewers of the field. I’m excited to learn more.

Simple, coherent, concise,... but no application or active learning, so retention will be lower.
