Instructor Details

Deaf Instructor

I was born profoundly deaf. My world is completely visual. I also have an older brother who is deaf. I have traveled through Europe, US and South Asia and have met many hundreds of deaf people. This has granted me the privilege of having a rich experience in Deaf Language. I was invited to work as translator.  And I have learnt in my nearly six years of translating from English text into a conceptual Sign Language that can be naturally understood by deaf. In this way, I understand students's desire to learn accurately. If you need a window into the deaf mind, I am the right person to give you the insight!

It is an interesting course to learn how the mute communicate and how versatile sign language is, even at expressing poetic and situations vibrantly.

By Csaba Balogh on 1/17/2026

The quality of the video is rubbish, the editing is terrible, and often I don't get the concept behind the lesson. I mostly benefit from watching the signs to get accustomed only.

By Deborah Segwapa on 10/31/2025

Because it is quiet an interesting course to learn. Funny, that the expressions one does on a daily but with no knowledge that it is part of sign language

By Sabrina Briscke on 7/5/2024

Good content of ASL. However, the course has been advertised as IS and this issue must be addressed immediately.

honestly quite disappointed I was expecting much more vocabulary basically it is a course on classifiers in my opinion a course with groups of words would have been more appreciated for example a lesson with the verbs eat and sleep and drink a lesson with the colors yellow red and green a lesson with the adjectives beautiful ugly on the other hand are practically all descriptions

I am trying to read what is being signed, while watching what he is signing. It would be easier from the start to hear what he is signing in order to grasp the actions in understanding. For me anyway. I understand he is trying to show a point, but my way of learning is different than others.

Really enjoyed soaking up your joy and wonder of Sign Language and watching your exquisite use of it. Thank you

I love it. I wanted to learn the international sign language not only for the interesting deaf ´s culture matters, but also to be able to understand their manners, the feelings, their perception of the world, but also to be able to help the deaf community to be understood by the other communities. I wish I can help to interprete their language for them whenever they need it. Thank you very much for this so speciall oportunity!

By Denise Chaffin on 10/31/2022

I am learning there is more to signing than just the actual sign for a word, but facial expression and body language. thanks!

Love this course! It helped me a lot with understanding the Deaf culture better. However, in some of the videos were missing subtitles which made it impossible for me to understand what was being taught. I am still giving it 5 stars as it is incredibly important topic and very well executed.
