Course Description

Welcome to Introduction to Databricks, your practical, beginner-friendly guide to one of the most in-demand data platforms in the industry today.

My name is Dimitar Shtev, and I’ve spent nearly a decade working with data across analytics, engineering, and machine learning. In this course, I will walk you step-by-step through everything you need to confidently start using Databricks—even if you’ve never worked with it before.

We begin by exploring what Databricks is, why organizations rely on it, and how its major components fit together. You’ll learn about the Data Lakehouse, Delta Lake, SQL, Databricks Runtime, and the architecture that powers scalable data processing.

From there, we move into hands-on learning using Databricks’ free-for-life community edition. You will run Python scripts, configure compute resources, organize your workspace, load CSV files, and build interactive visualizations and dashboards.

Finally, we put everything into practice with a real machine learning project:

You will collect real Bitcoin price data, prepare it for modeling, convert SQL tables into PySpark objects, train a regression model, and display future price predictions inside Databricks.

Whether you’re a data analyst, data engineer, BI professional, developer, or aspiring data scientist, Databricks is becoming an essential tool—and this course gives you the foundations AND the confidence to use it in real-world scenarios.

By the end, you’ll have a functional Databricks environment, hands-on experience, and practical workflows you can apply at work the very next day.

i found great to learn new things about Databricks (mostly the dashboards part), but think that for a Introduction to databricks in 1 hour course a lot of time was spend on machine learning on python, that same code likely works on other notebook engines like Jupiter or Google Collab and are not things of Databricks or how the clustering might accelerate the machine learning or have multimer instances of the data. even tho, the course is a great basic introduction to the tool

Really good course to get Databricks quick hands on. Examples are good. Explanation is good. I face problem with font. My suggestion next time when you di recording increase notebook font little bit then it will be easy to see what code is typing.

By Farhad Sedaghati on 7/29/2026

Loved it. It starts with a clear explanation of the terminology and key concepts, and then moves into a hands‑on walkthrough of the Databricks dashboard, showing how to use the different components.

Hi Mr. Dimitar Shutev sir, Thanks a lot for this course! I was looking around www.udemy.com for a beginners course on the Databricks www.databricks.com platform and stumbled upon your course. I opened a FREE www.databricks.com account and worked through the demo's you provided from sections 4 through 5. The sample data-sets are of immense help. I will revisit the course more than once to familiarise myself with the new UI of www.databricks.com web-console The only challenge I faced during the course was with your recordings. The font-size was too small and I had challenges with zooming in and out my browser. Can I request you to record the videos at zoom size 150, 175, or 200 from your end? Please review and assist!

A very nice initial overview. In some places, I would have liked to see a little more background information, and in exchange, I would have preferred the dashboard section to be shorter.

By Manoj Kumar Gupta on 5/24/2026

It was good for introduction but I would like to see a separate section to explain the different modules available in databricks and their use. But overall in 1 hour this is good to start with. Thanks a lot for making this.

By Rafael Valdes on 5/14/2026

The course is very complete, I love to learn how to create my first notebook, how I can create dashboards from my queries, in general I enjoyed the course a lot, I appreciate all you shared in the course.

By Satish Madarapu on 5/4/2026

The course is very useful for Databricks beginners. It provides a clear and structured overview of the platform, helping learners understand key concepts and features with ease. The content is well-organized and serves as a strong foundation for anyone starting their Databricks journey.

Good introductory course on the subject. I understood what this technology is about and that I'm not the target audience. The overall content feels like a sales pitch for the crypto bros, but I found the examples quite ok to quickly showcase most of the ways people would interact with this system.

By Anonymized User on 4/22/2026

Hello, well to start off, I felt the course started good initially. Then it went into Data Science, where I completely lost the plot. I mean the instructor did mention this point at the start of the beginning of this module, but I thought the pre-requisites of this course kind of misled me. I may need to revisit once I learn some PySpark and the DS part the instructor explained. Thanks
