Deepdive into Sparx Enterprise Architect (Udemy.com)

It's not a deep dive by any means - it's an introductory course on how to navigate Sparx EA. Still relevant even for EA v17 (UI has not changed that much, though some buttons are placed elsewhere or have different titles). Sound is not very good (quality, volume), but it's acceptable. If you have never worked in EA, the course is useful and helps to overcome the initial shock when you start to work in it (because the tool isn't exactly user-friendly). I don't know if it was mentioned, but the instructor uses higher edition of EA - probably Ultimate. Just something to keep in mind since some features (like security and discussions) shown are not present in Professional edition. Not a big problem, but be aware.

Very good beginners course for someone who never used Enterprise Architect before. Bert shows most important aspect of the tool and after finishing the course I have a good understanding of the basic functionality. I only give 4 of 5 stars because: - Title is misleading! It is definitely not a deep dive but more a beginner's guide. - Audio quality is mixed between episodes. I was always able to follow and clearly understand. However, it would be nice to have a consistent audio level.

Bert is definately very knowledgeable and experienced in Sparx Enterprise Architect. And a very good teacher who keeps you engaged throughout the course. Why not 5 stars? a) Expectation management. It's rather a high level introduction than a Deep Dive. Either change the title to match the content or add the content. b) The audio quality is inconsistent. Audio levels, tone and reverb are inconsistent between lessons. Please invest in time in basic audio mastering. Consider using same microphone/room or, if not possible, consider using de-reverb plugins, some basic audio compression/limiting to keep levels and EQ to keep audio levels/tone consistent. But hope to see more content from Bert!

This wasn't really a "deep dive." It was more of a course on all the menu items and navigation of the EA features. I was hoping more of a course on how to create user stories, personas, requirements, data flows AND how to link those items to produce requirements traceability. The only beneficial section was the security module that talked about locks and roles. That was good to know.

As a general overview the course is quite ok. But definitely it can't be named as a deep dive course, deep diving requeires to explain, for example, the upderlying data model and the scripting, among others. Also it looks like the course was partially updated from time to time. It's interesting to hear "see you in the next section" or "this is the end of the course" and then see the direct continuation. It is also mentioned during the course that there will be something about using particular modelling techniques, such as UML, but there is nothing at the course about it. But even saying all this, I would recommend the course anyway, since it is still a very good introduction to Sparx EA.

It presented a valid introduction into the usage of EA and its features. There were hints for interesting topics to investigate deeper. Soly, it neglected to mention that the features of the last sections are only available in the Corporate Edition and above (not in Professional). But this is mostly a Sparx issue to communicate more clearly. Whould love to see a follow up for practical application in concrete Requirements-, System-, Software-, and Test- Engineering. Best practices, multiple stakeholder perspectives, and formal documentation and tracing in regulatory projects.

Overall this is a solid introduction to Sparx Enterprise Architect (EA). The good is that the instructor is clearly knowledgeable and that you will be able to start using EA after the training. Especially the first 2 modules are worthwhile when you have not used EA before (or a long time ago) because they teach you how to downsize EA to a configuration where you will not constantly get lost and how to perform the most basic operations. Module 3 will give you some inside tips and tricks that can also benefit (absolute) beginners. Module 4 an d 5 are more for an intermediate course where people already have some experience with and more knowledge about EA. What can certainly be approved: - use of a simple, more appealing and more coherent real-world modelling project throughout the whole course (instead of the ad-hoc packages and diagrams used now); - more extensive explanation on package structure(s). It would be great to better understand how to setup your package structure in EA given certain project criteria. I think/hope this is an area we could benefit more from the experience and insights of the instructor; - overall voice quality and pace should be more standardized; - assignments are not very clear and should evolve around a central project. The video from the instructor with explanation on the assignment are good. Overall this course is worthwhile and has good value for money - especially because I bought it for only $9,99 - but is has much more potential.

This was a good course and what I expected. I learned many new things and insights even though I have been using Sparx for a number of years already. I had never really done any training (just skimmed through the user guide and learned by doing), though, so it was very useful to finally learn some of the fundamentals of e.g. configuring the ribbon and windows. And some functionalities I had never tried before (e.g. baselines and security). For total beginners this might be a frustrating course at times, though, since the lessons are more like independent quick tool demonstrations than a fully designed and integrated training course based on learning outcomes and pedagogical theory. Also in some videos the trainer seemed to be in a hurry and didn't really thoroughly explain what was happening in the screen). So, for total newbies to Sparx, in some videos it can be difficult to fully understand and follow what the trainer is doing and where he is clicking :-) Also, the videos are a few years old, so as I was following along with Sparx version 17, there were small differences in the UI and at times it took some time to find the functionality showed in the video. Not a huge issue though. It was possible to find the feature in the menu by using the Sparx user guide. Thanks for the course and cheers!

This was a good course, covered some key elements to get you underway and as it says it is an introduction, I would happy purchase some for in depth courses. My only other feedback is the sound is very up and down and can sometimes be a bit hard to hear as not always clear. (Hence 4 stars) Overall a positive course and I would recommend.

I have great hope of getting guidance for some difficulties encountered in my first contact with the framework. Despite the extensive documentation of Sparx Enterprise Architecture, I did not have the basis to fully understand some features alone and I hope to achieve this course.

As an introduction course, it is well suited to that audience. It deals with the fundamentals.

In overall the content was well structured, but the language of the instructor was difficult to follow at times and had popping, the cc captions were at many times inaccurate
