Course Description

Do you like jazz? But playing and understanding all these fancy chords seemed hard for you?

The Jazz Chord Base is a system to accompany jazz tunes in a way that will let you understand the chords quick and easy. The course is filled with explanations of the chords, many exercises and every once in a while Stefan tells funny stories of his life as a musician.
Learn the structure of chords, understand how they are developed and then practise them with the many exercises. All the exercises are demonstrated on video, include the lead sheets and come with files to use in iRealBook (an app (not included in the course) that plays a band on your computer with bass, drums and piano in your desired practising tempo). And if you don't own iRealPro: each exercise has an audiofile for download to play along.

Learn to find your way on the fretboard in a logical system and start playing these cool jazz chords from the scratch.

Completing the course will make you a great accompanist either as a single player with a singer/soloist or in a band. Also included is: Playing Chord solos and playing with a conductor.

Here are some statements from guitarists, who have taken the course:

P.O. writes: «… this course seems brilliant. Just enough simplification to make it pretty easy …”
T.T. writes: “… Simplified and broke down the complicated chord theory in to pieces, easy to digest, step by step exercises make the whole learning experience fun and achievable!! Excellent!!!”
C.B. writes: “I have learned more in the last three days than I did in six weeks!...”

This course is also available in German.

I think this course should deserve 6 stars. Very streamlined and thought-out, this is advancing my playing really fast, and I'm beyond satisfied with everything! Having gone in to this with fairly little experience on the guitar, and now I'm feeling pretty confident :) Highly recommend!

I'm an experienced blues guitar player, and wanted to learn some jazz. I really loved this course, Stefan is a great teacher, really chill, and makes it fun. He explains things really well and the exercises build up gradually. Highly recommended. Thanks Stefan!

I love the teacher’s laid back, but effective style. My confidence in this otherwise daunting subject of jazz guitar is already growing. Thanks! Update: Now that I am half way done, (after a little break), I have to say again that this course is fantastic. The teacher takes a very challenging subject and makes it easily understandable and fun. This is a very rewarding course. If you're interested to learn jazz chords to read charts, sign up -- You won't regret it. Peace, Love, and Keep Rockin'.

The instructor is very funny and good at teaching. However, the content seems pretty advance for beginner eventho it started with the basic one. The content's length is about 1-2 mins. Sure I can play along or practice the chord shapes and rhythm but absolutely not with a clear understanding about theory behind it. At the end, I might actually be able to play jazz chords but would be struggle how to apply it further. Also have to buy the application for extra cost to access backing tracks.

This course has provided me with a strong understanding of chord composition, reharmonization, jazz culture and history, improvisation, musical terms, a developed sense of musical IQ, and probably some other things I can't reel off the top of my head. This was a challenging course, but it was also fun and very interesting! I'm really glad I've had the opportunity to delve into this. Cheers!

I've been playing heavy metal all my life so it forces me to work those jazz chords.makes me a better metal player.... and a novice jazz player. :)

This is my 5th year that I've been teaching myself guitar. I have spent a lot of hours playing and I am considered an intermediate player. I've been teaching myself single note solos as well as rhythm guitar playing and I've used several approaches, like books, apps (Yousician and 4chords), computer games (rocksmith) etc. During my learning jurney I've spent about 600-700 euros to teach myself guitar, mostly on books (I own about 50 of them) and I regret I spent so much money and time on books! This is the first time I use udemy and the first time I buy guitar lessons on time and can't help think what of waste of money and maybe time was on books! These lessons work far more better for me than anything I have utilized ever! If I could turn back time I would only spend money on buying onlice courses from udemy to learn guitar. The content is presented consistently and thoroughly in a simple and fun way. The app recommended from the teacher (iReal pro) is a great way to support my playing and the teacher provides the exercises ready so you can just jam along, which is fantastic! Listening to the teacher is fun and the resources are great! I can't recommend it much! I rate as 5 stars, because I can't recommend any more! If you have an interest in jazz rhythm playing, even if you have had your first steps, invest on this course. You won't regret the few euros you are spent.

Having now spent much more time with this course (you can't rush through it) I have to upgrade to a solid four stars! My initial difficulty were primarily technical, and they were resolved with direct help from Stefan...thanks! Now through lesson 66 or so and have much better appreciation for the material and how it is taught. There are still some of what I consider to be weaknesses in the course delivery (e.g., different chord embellishments in the Udemy charts and as played by Stefan, vs. the iReal charts) that cause me to constantly flip back and forth between windows or print out PDFs of the more correct Udemy charts, but no serious drawbacks. I am definitely improving my ability to play more complex chords and charts as I continue to work with this course.
