jQuery for Application Development: Fundamentals (Udemy.com)

This jQuery course is excellent. Mark shows a didactic mastery. Within minutes you are programming, because the jQuery libraries are simply loaded online. No previous knowledge is required, because all elements as HTML, CSS and jQuery (and a little (not jQuery) Javascript) are covered by Mark repeatedly. Excellent is his method of using highlights and arrows to direct the focus to the programming text currently being covered. This makes everything very clear. Also very helpful is the included list : "Complete Chart of jQuery Selectors". At the end of the course he creates 2 applications using jQuery (javascript), and you also get a brief look at the (javascript) Bootstrap libraries. My only regret is that not all questions are (can be) answered (promptly), and I would like to get more homework assignment (as in other of his courses, but proposed for Flash Cards) from Mark to implement what you've learned on your own. Therefore, participate actively and follow his repeated request: Don't just listen and copy the source codes, but program along, and vary. Conclusion: An excellent course that I can only recommend.

Excellent introduction to JQuery. Covers the most used features of JQuery very well. The course assumes some existing knowledge of HTML, CSS and Javascript so perhaps do an introduction to web development course first.

I'm currently about 10% of the way through this course and it has exceeded my expectations so far, primarily because it seems to make jQuery appear relevant. I've been of the uninformed opinion that jquery hasn't been relevant since around 2016, but the first thing I saw here is that I was wrong, not many may be using it in their development flow today, but if you want to understand a lot of older code, knowing this is going to make your life easier

Yes, it was a good match for me. In addition to excellent production qualities (both audio and video--especially adequate font size) and a very confident and knowledgeable instructor, what I found unique and helpful are the arrows that point to relevant code and masking of irrelevant code so that we can focus better. The learning tips that pop up at the bottom of the screen are also helpful. The course includes 2 interesting projects (with source code included). Very good coverage of the subject. It is geared towards people who already have at least a basic understanding of code editing, file management, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. So for those people, it doesn't start by taking you back through things you are probably already comfortable with, but focuses on the subject (with a few gentle reminders along the way).

I am looking at jQuery as a complete newcomer to the topic. I am coming from a typical NFP volunteer organisation with a simple website, but now needing to improve and add to this at regular intervals.. A "beginner" student might find that reading the segment "what is jQuery" right at the start, rather than later beneficial. However, after this initial comment, I continued with the course and thereafter found there was great clarity in each of the remaining 9 sections.

Mark does a great job in explaining the fundamentals of jQuery. I had looked at jQuery in the past and found it difficult to use and understand. Mark breaks things down using simple examples and fully explains what is going on. I found myself pausing the videos occasionally to mentally review what was just covered. As I did that, I would have a question that in the next minute of the video Mark fully explained. He really knows his stuff and anticipates questions that a beginner with jQuery might have.

I buy (am dependant) premade plugins and scripts (on themeforest) for my clients projects. Yes I think Mark (as a teacher) is a trademark of Quality and because he uses a black theme editor which is less straining for my eyes and because I like his voice. But this course gives me what I need to build what my clients wants with less money. I learnt to customize the free scripts I find online and jquery gives me the confidence to tackle more complex projects.

Following the instructions in the third module, I attempted to install the jquery library on my system. While it said it installed it, I could not find the directory shown in the module. Probably my own fault, but it does leave me with a conundrum. I've solved that problem. However, I've noticed another problem. In the slide section, with the space ship, you have the directions reversed! When you press the "left" button, it moves to the right, and vice versa for the right button. I know... It's nit picky, but it's bothersome to my sense of perfection!
