Course Description

About the Course

I am creating Kafka Streams with Spring Cloud Streams to help you understand stream processing in general and apply it to Kafka Streams Programming using Spring Boot.

My approach to creating this course is a progressive common-sense approach to teaching a complex subject. Using this unique approach, I will help you apply your general ability to perceive, understand, and reason the concepts progressively that I am explaining in this course.

Who should take this Course?

Kafka Streams with Spring Cloud Streams course is designed for software engineers willing to develop a stream processing application using the Kafka Streams library and Spring Boot. I am also creating this course for data architects and data engineers responsible for designing and building the organization’s data-centric infrastructure. Another group of people is the managers and architects who do not directly work with Kafka implementation, but they work with the people who implement Kafka Streams at the ground level.

Kafka Version used in the Course

This course is using the Kafka Streams library compatible with Spring Cloud 2020. I have tested all the source code and examples used in this course on Confluent Platform 6.0.0 which is compatible with Apache Kafka 2.6 open source distribution.

Source Code, Development IDE, Build Tool, Logging, and Testing Tools

This course is fully example-driven, and I will be creating many examples in the class. The source code files for all the examples are included in your study material.

This course will be making extensive use of IntelliJ IDEA as the preferred development IDE. However, based on your prior experience, you should be able to work with any other IDE designed for Spring application development.

This course will be using Apache Maven and Gradle as the preferred build tool. However, based on your prior experience, you should be able to use any other build tool designed for Java applications.

This course also makes use of Log4J2 to teach you industry-standard log implementation in your application.

We will be using JUnit5, which is the latest version of JUnit, for implementing Unit Test Cases.

Example and Exercises

Working examples and exercises are the most critical tool to convert your knowledge into a skill. I have already included a lot of examples in the course. This course also consists of some programming assignments as and when appropriate. These exercises will help you validate and check your concepts and apply your learning to solve programming problems.

content is well explained but the major disadvantage of this course I see is, not using spring boot 3 and the latest of spring cloud kafka stream, the technique used in this course are already removed from spring cloud kafka latest and deprecated. Please update the code and your lectures with latest tech-stacks.

I'm a newbie to KStream & KTable concepts. Author did a great job walking through different scenarios & explain basics of Kafka itself. I loved this course & learned something new, Thanks again !

1. Instructor explain very well. 2. Instructor didn't update the course to run the projects in Macs M1 3. He doesn't cover Functional Style. He just cover imperative approach and looks like it is not being used for new developments.

Great course! Even though the material is a bit outdated at this point, it still works and the instructor and curriculum is concise and to the point. This is one of the better Instructors I have encountered on Udemy. I really like his teaching stye.

I am at the beginning of the course, and just lecture about WLS & Ubuntu for Windows 10 is valued 25x more than what I paid for the few courses from Prasad; we all know how hard it is trying integration tests in enforced corporate Windows. Plus, default shell - Ubuntu!!! I am very knowledgeable in the field, but I am glad I decided to watch these videos, I already have 10x ROI. Thank you Prasad! Please make future lectures truly 1080p (maybe you need native resolution 4K screen with tiniest native fonts to properly zoom in?) Thanks a lot!

More examples on stream joins and real world use cases would add weightage to the course. Repeated usage of "keep learning , keep growing", "The point is straight", avoid em if possible. Thanks for the course.

This course is very nice. covered all the topics of streams in detail with great real time examples. it would be nice if example includes connecting kafka with security protocols . (either with SSL/SSL_SASL/SASL_PLAIN)

The content is great, but the copy paste is some times doesn't help but confuses. Need to understand that you know all about topic but the not the user otherwise there is no need to purchase this course. I request you to please spare some more time rather than copying and pasting.

the course is great! the instructor covers a lot of topic on Kafka stream scenarios without and with serialization using JSON and Avro. I think he could try to do everything in one single project so we can also learn more custom configurations of different serializaers. He always use the default serialiazer for all aplications, which is not what a real applications might have. But overall, he covers a lot of hands-on which is great. Regarding the unit tests and integration test of Spring cloud+Kafka Stream I think the course lacks much more examples with respect to the use cases that he did in the beginning of the course. Unit tests is always something that everybody has to implement. So, overall I recommend the course but attention on the catches that I said.

This was a well rounded course that explained clearly and concisely how to use the Spring framework to talk to Kafka. The examples given were very helpful in understanding how to put it all together. They were well arranged and logically stepped through. I applaud the instructor, Mr. Pandey, for breaking down a hard to learn subject and making it easy to follow. Thank you.
