Excellent match. Mr. Gupta does one thing other, younger instructors often don't. He increases the size of the subject larger so you can actually SEE the menu item he is discussing. Others will display it, but it is so small you cannot tell what it is oftentimes. The larger view and his explanation of EACH item is much more helpful than others who present the drop-downed menu at a small size! Many of us have poor eyesight and this enlargement really helps.

Great course. I took it as a refresher as I worked on the previous version of the program by Serif (Page Plus), however, as the new platform is quite different, the course is a must for those transitioning from Page Plus (now gone) to Affinity Publisher.

I have enjoyed this course. I am a retired Graphic designer/Industrial designer/Industrial Engineer. The electronic era has absolutely changed the design environment as to how we express the world around us. I very much appreciate this course and the presenting of process, technique, elements of design, and typography in a manner which can be used to create and grow one's ability in visual communication. Thanks

Whilst I learaned a lot I found the course disappointing. Mr Gupta had no need to finish each course in such a repetitive way. Having once seen his 'Brought to you by' section it did not need repeating after every video. He also didn't explain all the features often saying it would bore the student which is not the case; the student wishes to learn everything which this course didn't show. Additionally by saying 'here' and not saying what he was puttting the cursor at left confusion because despite stopping the video and repeating it, the constant reference to here - sometimes saying 'down' when it was 'up' was adding to the confusion. He clearly knows Publisher inside out but doesn't share everything with the student. This course was not a patch on the Affinity Photo course I did earlier which was clear in every way and I rated 5 stars. Sorry to be so frank but it might be helpful for others and on previous experience is not up to best UDEMY standards.

It was a very good beginner class. In the beginning I was frustrated at the pace, but the way that Prashant speaks is very slow and deliberate which allowed me to slow down and process the information he was giving me. I do think there were some areas that were repetitive, but overall he covered the platform very well!

As I'm not a publisher (but a writer) this has been pitched perfectly. The pacing is good and the terminology is suitable for anyone without publishing knowledge. The content is well thought out and organised. When I started I really only wanted information to design a book cover and had no idea how Affinity Publisher worked (it feels so different to the word processing software). Now I'm glad I signed up to this much fuller course.

REALLY HELPFUL. GOOD INSIGHTS ON VARIOUS HIDDEN OPTIONS AVAILABLE WITHIN THE SOFTWARE. HANDY REFERENCE MATERIAL. THE INSTRUCTOR HAS IN-DEATH UNDERSTANDING OF THE VARIOUS OPTIONS AND FUNCTIONS AVAILABLE AND EAGER TO PASS ON THE KNOWLEDGE TO HIS STUDENTS. MANY THANKS.

At the time of writing (2020/3/24), this was one of two tutorials that covered Affinity Publisher and the only one that fully focused on it. The other tutorial was contained in Jeremy Hazel's and Lindsay Marsh's Learn the Entire Affinity Suite. I also would emphasize here that this is a Beginner's Tutorial focusing on the tools you use in Affinity Publisher. Do not expect much in the way of advice concerning layout (there is some but not much). Out of the two I would say this is the better one, mainly because it covers Publisher more thoroughly - especially with regards to how you use text tools. However if you know Affinity Designer and Photo well, the only useful sections for you will be 1, 4 and 5 - though I think it is still worth it if you are new to Publisher. The lessons are broken down well and in easy chunks, they are also fairly well structured (though there were some peculiar discrepancies). Why four star and not five. The biggest reason for the markdown was the lack of resources. None are provided. Prashant seems to assume that the student will use their initiative and download or use their own images - I think this is unfair as this is a beginners course and not everyone will know to do that. This leads me to my second criticism. It seems that Prashant is using the latest version of Publisher. Why not demonstrate using the stock tools that Affinity Programs now use and how that ties in to either embedding images or linking them (I still don't know if you can link the images you can get from the stock tools). I think this would have been useful for a beginner. I think if he made those changes I would make it up to 4.5. To get it up to 5 he would need to have a section about how to create good layout. My final thoughts are about accents as I have seen this brought up in reviews for other tutorials. I'm a Londoner with an Irish Mum and a Malay Dad who now lives in Melbourne, Australia. In my life I am, and have been, surrounded by a myriad of accents. This experience has made me very patient when hearing English spoken in an unfamiliar accent. Prashant has a very broad south Asian (Indian?) accent - if you are unused to it don't let it put you of. Give yourself a minute to adjust to it otherwise you'll miss out on a fine tutorial.

I'm getting a lot from this program. It's not my first course but it IS covering many things that weren't covered in the other courses I've taken. I recommend it. I actually upped my rating to 5 star because of the many practical and useful actual projects used to demonstrate the tools within Affinity Publisher.
