Applications Built
Within the "Learn Ionic 3 From Scratch" course, you will be making the Github Profile Searcher from scratch. Prior to interacting with any API, we create our mock data and TypeScript interfaces for a strongly typed approach to development.
We then look at making 'Beep', the social chat application from UX design all the way to full implementation*. As you follow the course, we design the application in Adobe Experience Design and then look at implementing the various features to a production standard within our project.
We use Firebase for our real-time database and authentication, as well as the latest release candidate which includes the modularisation of AngularFire2 into different packages.
By the end of this course, you'll be able to make cross platform mobile applications using Angular 4, TypeScript and Ionic 3. This means that you'll be able to:
- Create high performance mobile applications using web technologies (HTML5 and JavaScript).
- Have a strong portfolio of applications* and understanding of Ionic 3, TypeScript and Angular 4.
- Master the Ionic 3 CLI with a section dedicated to it's usage.
- Use Ionic Native and Cordova to hook into native device features*.
- Theme your Ionic applications with bespoke styles, and understand common accessibility patterns.
- Master Ionic 3 navigation patterns with lifecycle hooks.
- Increase performance of your Ionic 3 applications with lazy loading.
And much more.
* Feature is under development as the course continues to grow.

This course is basically abandoned by the creator, do not expect any help from him with any issues you have with outdated code not working. Do not expect much of the code that you see on screen to be available for download from his github repo either. I did learn a lot from this course though, Paul definitely knows his stuff and if he spoke a little slower and clearer, typed a little slower and made the code/resources for each video available this would be an amazing course.

The course was great. Building the beep application from scratch to advanced features helped to learn and understand the development process. It would be great if some areas were detailed even more. The rationale for pages and components is understandable but I guess the reason for it is reusability of components within pages. Example of such cases would be great to have. I also would like to have some examples of guards and event publishing (events are mentioned in the last sections of the course). All in all great course, easy to follow and valuable details in every lecture.

This is such a fantastic course, I'm ashamed I didn't write this review earlier. Paul does a great job of getting you started with Angular and building your first Ionic app. The projects with firebase integration are also really cool and helped tremendously. Before I took this course I had absolutely no experience with Javascript/Typescript but was creating Android apps using Java/XML as a hobby. I took this course last year and it helped me land my first development job! Needless to say I recommend taking this course as a guide to creating modern Ionic apps.

Excellent. A good, quick pace and a comprehensive look at Angular & Ionic 3. Projects rock! Minor criticism: leaving out installation instructions for Linux - a very popular OS with developers - is unfortunate. Paul Halliday is very articulate and covers all aspects of whatever it is he is teaching. I am just now learning to appreciate how much I learned from his real world approach. My favorite instructor.

Overall, content is pretty solid and Paul is very knowledgeable about Ionic and Angular. That said, when I compare this course to other courses on udemy.com there are a few significant gaps that lower the overall rating of this course. Granted I'm just wrapping up Section 5 Navigation. The gaps: - Speed of instruction is crazy insane at times. As a beginner to Ionic and Angular 4 - I spend more time pausing and rewinding because the code that is being displayed on the video can be at warp speed and there is at times little to know instruction of the why and how? - I found that there should have been a great deal more time spent on the set up of the course to ensure the environment you are working in is positioned for the best possible success. - Instructor answering questions of the students. I've seen very little if no responses provided on my questions and many other students. I can see some questions were asked 2-3 months ago, with no response from the instructor. That is by fart the biggest difference between other courses I've taken and this current course. I would still recommend this course and it is still very much worth the money invested. I would HIGHLY recommend using Visual Studio Code to go along with this tutorial, without having the same environment I'm not confident I would be able to follow along and thus the value of the course would be diminished. Lastly, the instructor has an active YouTube video where you can find updates, it would be nice to see those updates in the Q&A for the appropriate lesson number. Again, 90% of content is rock solid. Follow up is lacking and seem to have no support, more work could be done in the set up of the environment. Hope this feedback is helpful. Thanks!

The course is very good, quite complete. It runs through the material in a speedy pace which doesn't let you fall asleep. The material is very complete, it is very up-to-date. Only missing half a star because it has a few errata and some content was skipped, but shows up in later videos. Even if I had to do a lot of debugging and looking for solutions, which only improved my skills, everything works and the sample application at the end is quite a good place to be at if you want to build your own app. I definitely recommend taking the course, now or as soon as possible, since the material is very fresh.

This is an evolving course and has great examples of many patterns within ionic. I would recommend knowing Typescript and Angular before starting, in particular Typescript syntax, Promises, and Observables. All of which are common place in Ionic. The Ionic and Angular docs have pretty much everything else needed. Some code implementations are used as an example when it is not a correct use case. Even though Paul mentions he is just implementing as an example i think he should show the best code for the current case. So only use implementations if the use case warrants it, not for the sake of it. All in all this was a great following up for me to further my learning of Ionic.

Great, relevant, up-to-date content that's constantly being revised by an active teacher. Zips along at a rapid pace -- like others, found myself pausing often and occasionally missing steps and having to rewind. Explains things in great detail. Wish he left more opportunity to try things on our own and practice skills rather than just copying his process.
