Learn to speak Hmong (Udemy.com)

I like the way you are going about the sounds with the English equivalent. Awesome so far!

The course is taught by a native Hmong speaker. The tones in Hmong are demonstrated with examples and lots of opportunity to practice, which is good. The basic vocabulary is also repeated which helps with memorization.

Pros: I like the videos. They are broken up into short easy to digest chunks. I also like that the pronunciations of each letter is repeated so many times for practice. This is the only real lesson on the Hmong language that I've been able to find so far.
Improvements: It would be helpful to incorporate IPA to show the English equivalents. I was also unclear if this first set of lessons was how to pronounce each letter independently (like when saying the alphabet) or if it was how to pronounce each letter when it is seen in a word. The quizzes didn't align with the lessons. The video would cover how to pronounce each individual lesson then the following quiz would ask how to pronounce something like "Mai" when the "ai" combination had not yet been taught in the course.

This is a great tool to help me learn the hmong language. My fiance is hmong and I've practiced with her a little, but with this tool she is very enthused and amazed by my progress with my pronunciation and ability to recognize the written language already, and I'm only half way through the course. I recommend this program for sure! Also I had a concern about something and messaged Jay, and it's amazing how fast he was able to respond to me. Easy 5 stars. Jay if you see this and know how to speak Lao, please make a course similar to this and I will spread the word because I want to learn Lao after Hmong. Thank you!

Was difficult to figure out exactly where the answers to a couple questions (primarily regarding letters G and J) were covered in the lessons. Aside from that very well instructed course thus far.

Very thorough!! It is very difficult to find good Hmong instruction. Thank you so much for giving us students access to clear guidelines and great audio. Ive had Hmong colleagues for many years. It would be amazing to connect with them in their native tongue.
