Learn TradingView Pine Script Programming From Scratch (Udemy.com)

Excellent Course. Too many technology course providers fail to update the course as things change leaving you frustrated and wishing you had not purchased the course. Paul goes the extra mile to make sure you are getting the latest information which I really appreciate. He also includes the old material which is worth watching as he approaches the old subject from a different angle and so it gives you a second chance to understand the topic if you are struggling. Off to purchase the rest of his courses now.

This was a good course. I do have some improvement suggestions if you update this course: 1. Give the students coding challenges - While following your descriptions in the code that was provided was helpful, giving the students coding challenges along the way and then going over the solutions and the why's of the solutions would help to cement the concepts. 2. Provide a section covering indicator and strategy design principles from scratch. Most software engineering and design courses that I've gone through involve a series of steps (What do you want to accomplish?, How to perform pseudocoding, flowcharting, testing the logic, etc.) before you sit down to write a single line of code. 3. Include advanced topics such arrays, objects, enums, methods, and maps. However, as I stated earlier this was a very good introduction to Pine Script and development for TradingView and I would certainly recommend this course to others.

Learned many useful things along the way and I like that the instructor put the source code available for download. Had some issues which are probably related to PineScript version 4 being outdated and they made some scripts impossible to run like presented in the video. Ignored those parts (namely open and close label and fib line auto tool) and moved on, as I used ChatGPT to help me build my own PineScript version 5 indicator where some concepts from the course were applied. It explains fundamental aspects of PineScript and helps you especially if new to coding, I would have liked to see more emphasis on developing and optimizing strategies(this is my bias as I am not a new coder and some things bored me, especially the old PineScript version 4 stuff which feels redundant today), still the course did it's job and taught me about backtesting, alerts, and many more useful concepts which you can use on your own to build more advanced things. Additionally, since you can easily convert V4 code to V5 it's not that big of a deal. Near the end the instructor explains how to convert PineScript 4 code to version 5, I would suggest to have that part at the beginning so that new people can use it before the Version 4 sections. This course does it's job well, it indeed does teach you from scratch, it does show you workarounds to some TradingView free plan limitations such as alerts on multiple markets at once and more indicators merged in one, and I respect the instructor's enthusiasm and work for putting it all together.

Ho inserito 4 stelle poiché non ho trovato il modo di impiegare i risultati di indicatori personalizzati all'interno delle strategie. Comunque ho già acquistato altri due corsi dichiarati più specifici per quest'argomento. Bravo!

This is the first UDEMY course I regret getting. Had to happen one day. I could say so much about the course and instructor but that would take too long. Instead, I will focus on the readers/students themselves: 1. If you know nothing about programming (any language), this course is NOT for you. It is painfully obvious the instructor is self-thought (nothing wrong there), but he does not have the fundamentals set in, and it shows. The while loop has SO many advantages in ANY language, including in Pine Script but the instructor fails to realize where it can be used. You will just give you horrible habits and confuse you, as he is in some parts. If you do know programming, you will realize that if you think yourself a real trader, it's more efficient to just buy the paid version or... 2. Use Python instead. It's orders of magnitude more versatile and powerful for trading. 3. I forced myself to "listen" to the course but because I am stubborn. If you are new to either Pine or programming in general, just start with free courses on YouTube and other amazing (and yes, still free) courses on the web. 4. I gave 3.5 out of 5, as the instructor did make a concerned effort to update the course every now and then. Not all do.

As a someone who already knows the basic understanding of python and no prior information on pine, This course was really easy to pick up. Speaking from this standpoint, Somethings I didn't like was I sometimes found Pauls explanations a little less understanding as some key things I felt like I wanted to know more about were not explained as much in detail. However, This course was very insightful and I have many good things to say. Paul Continues until this day to update the course about new features continued to be added to pine. He also goes out his way and provides unique information that cannot be found anywhere else like having multiple charts access, All the kind of errors and issues you may face based on personal and other experiences when starting, and detail about the how the compiler works as well as details you may miss. Overall I paid 16 bucks and I would say if you are already somewhat experienced in programming like me and have no pine experience. I would recommend.

Thank you for a wonderful course. Quite useful for a beginner. Just one suggestion: The last chapter about the version 5 features has quite a few videos which show the keystrokes of the author on the screen, which is quite disturbing when you are trying to focus on the content. If possible, please do remove it. The captions are also quite messed up in this last chapter but much better in other chapters. Thanks anyways for a quite informative training. Appreciate it.

It is a great course for me. As a newbie to Pine script, there are a lot of information to absorb in a short time. Struggling to understand everything in the first round, I think I need view the course a second round. I trust myself that I can write my own indicator real soon. The content is in pine script version 4, I need to convert it myself to version 5 but anyway the program logic behind is still the same. I can still gain benefit from the course. Section 12 has the version 5 explanation. I would recommend to those who are serious to learn Pine script.

Paul very clearly knows his stuff, and provides very good content, however at times i feel that Paul being so knowledgeable forgets to explain certain concepts a little more thoroughly, and he does tend to bounce around a bit - ultimately though the content is fantastic. Paul has also made efforts to keep the course up to date including content for v4 and v5. Moreover with these newer content pieces I noted a considerable difference to Paul's teaching style where he thoroughly explained what he intended to do before diving in to the session to showcase it. Far easier to understand! overall this is a fantastic course I highly recommend it if you intend to pick up pinescript

Initially I gave it a 3 stars when I was still in the beginning of the Section 6 because I thought this course would be all about programming basics of the Pine Script. When I hit the Project part , I was filled with HOPE of what I can and am able to do with this language and I loved it. I am enrolled in the strategy course of the same instructor and planning to combine both with an in-depth course in trading strategies and maximizing profit margins. Also I love it when the instructors show their faces on the camera, it helps with the lonely time passed in front of the black screen. Thank you.

I really enjoyed the course and learned the basics that should help me with my first steps with Pine Script. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone interested in Pine! Paul is really good in explaining things in a simple, easy to understand way, plus shows the most important take aways as a text on the screen, to make sure you won't skip those.
I'm a beginner - both in Pine and in programming, and I've still managed to understand all topics. Even if I didn't get some concepts after watching for the first time, I always got it after rewatching the videos. The only thing I'd add to the course are some exercises and small challanges along the way. It'd be nice to have a chance to repeat the material and put it into practice as the course progresses, instead of just watching. As it comes to the material in the course, I really appreciate that on the top of Pine, Paul shows some "good practices" in programming in general, like how to keep your code well structured and in order, write as little code as possible and simplify things by using different solutions. I think that these little tips and tricks are really important (especially for newbies like myself), in order to get into the programmers mindset, see things from a bit different perspective and grow good habits form the start. Thank you Paul, I'm looking forward to the next course!

Wonderful coverage with examples. It made playing with pine script much easier.
