Course Description

A Verifiable Certificate of Completion is presented to all students who undertake this course.

CSS powers the visual side of the internet, and anyone looking for a real understanding of web design must know what it can do and how it works. This Learning CSS3 Tutorial Course simplifies the  standard of cascading style sheets into its most basic elements, and then gradually advances to help you gain a well-rounded understanding to creating layouts and stylistic elements for the web. This beginner-friend CSS3 training course is led by expert Geoff Blake, who draws from his background as a designer to help you see how various graphical elements and settings can work together to form a complete user experience. Because the training is built around CSS3, you'll also learn features that are specific to the newest standard of the style sheets protocol. Get ready to learn layout, layering, typography and special effects in this unique and engaging 8-hour course.

This course should be on CSS3, as per the course title and description. But I didn't find it CSS3 based, completely out of topic. I bought it for mastering CSS3 but it is completely worthless. Waste of time and money both. It could be helpful for beginners/laymen who do not know anything about CSS and HTML. For CSS3 this course is completely out of topic. You can not even mater in CSS2 with this. I am very disappointed with the author. This is the first such review I am leaving for an author. It seems like author is completely forget about the title of course.

This was a very basic course in CSS. it was well done and the presentation was very good. The instructor was easy to understand and follow. This was an introduction to CSS and only covered a very small number of selectors and properties. This course is for a real beginner, even someone beginning with HTML too. I am familiar with CSS after learning on the fly as I worked on various web projects. I wanted a "formal" education in CSS not just from picking up things here and there. For a beginner, this is a good course because it doesn't bombard you with a lot of jargon and the like. It was a slow engaging pace with real examples to show you the effects of the CSS. I would recommend this course for someone starting out with web design (even HTML). For someone who is familiar with web design and already have some knowledge of CSS, I would recommend a more advanced course.

Well, Geoff does a phenomenal job at explaining things as clearly as he could. I already was a little bit familiar with CSS and wanted to take this course to brush up my basics so the course felt a little lengthy to my liking but I can understand as Geoff had to make sure it resonates with audience who are not that familiar with CSS as well. I wanted to brush up my basics I said, but I learnt some new things and got explanations of some things that I used to use but didn't really know how it worked and why it worked that way. So it worked for me certainly. So overall, a wonderful course especially for beginners and intermediately skilled folks like me who have a little bit of experience but want to brush up their basics.

This is a great course on HTML and CSS - I've learnt so much from this course alone. Geoff's approach with "incremental skills/knowledge" is very helpful, and I did not find such approach with any other similar courses on HTML and CSS. I would've given this course a full 5 stars rating if Geoff would include lessons on mobile browsers/mobile compability and CSS3 animations. Furthermore, if Geoff would include quizzes after each section and some sort of a web project (or two) by the end of this course, then this course would ultimately be perfect for anyone looking to learn about HTML and CSS. However, kudos - Good job to Geoff for a very excellent course on HTML and CSS! I encourage anyone who wants to learn about HTML and CSS to take this course - you'll definitely learn a lot and that's a guarantee!

Hits the basic marks pretty well: Covers basic aspects of CSS3 (not everything but that's ok); The instructor's voice is easy to understand (unlike some videos!) and the audio quality is good enough; The code can be followed with no problem and it all makes sense. You will certainly learn basic CSS from this course. Cons: The explanation is sometimes a bit complicated (not straight to the point) & I think it could be more confusing than necessary for a beginner. I suppose some people will find the very conversational style encouraging (thus my 4 rating and not 3). The pace is pretty slow, which may actually be a plus for many people. If this is your very first stab at CSS, the course should work fine for you. If you want something more high-powered, this might not be it. However i'd rate it better than some other beginning CSS courses out there for sure!

This class differs from other classes because you can work right along with the videos. I have found some classes on Udemy where its just a review of syntax and code, they give you the final outcome, and you dont work along side with the instructor. I can't watch five videos and then do a homework assignment like in other classes. This class keeps you moving during every lesson. Definitely worth it and will be implementing some of the things I learned right away!!! Also, I took a web design class at a university a while back, had trouble with things like floats, clearing them, and the box model. These tutorials do a fantastic job breaking down some of the important concepts necessary for creating layouts.

Prior to this course I had a very basic understanding of CSS. This course really strengthened my understanding of web design. I appreciate the way the instructor presented the materials in a manner a beginner or novice could relate to. The instructor kept me wanting to continue watching one instruction after another. Highly recommended if you want to learn CSS. Thank you very much for the opportunity to learn.

Review edited after 6 years after which I finally finished this course. Pretty awesome in my opinion now that I have done it in 2020, as it gets straight to the point and instructor doesn't roam around here and there adding fluff just for the sake of it. It wont make you an expert as this 'tech' is quite old (is it really CSS3 I wonder), however even then the explanation is excellent and it lays good foundations for the future. Will use this as a reference from now on.

A solid overview of CSS. It filled in several blanks for me (learned a bit just by experimenting and this cleared up why something work the way they do). The instructor gives a good clear explanation of the box model. There are a couple of issues that I would like to see explored a bit more (lesson 88 in Firefox vs. Chrome vs. IE). I would also like to see some discussion on common idiosyncrasies of the most popular web browsers and how/if we can adjust via css. Overall, a good tutorial and I got a lot out of it.

By Judith Anenberg on 3/21/2013

If you have basic html skills, this course will help you really get a handle on CSS3. The material is presented in a very logical way so that you have the building blocks before getting to the more complex layout and box topics. Unlike many courses and books that I have read about html and CSS, the instructor does not mix in or expect you to have javascript skills. I will continue with javascript after I learn about the use of html5 combined with CSS3.
