This class was awesome! I'm taking online courses for web development right now and the courses are only 6 weeks long. You're pretty much teaching yourself because most of the teachers (Baker College Online) are completely absent from the process or extremely vague in the information they provide. Additionally, some of the texts are pretty useless. I took this course to better understand responsive design, so I was extremely happy to find that I now know way more about HTML5 and CSS3 than I had before. The instructor is very thorough and anyone can follow along. I highly advise doing the work with the files, side-by-side with the video.

I am new to responsive design, that is why I wanted to start from something simple. I found this course quite useful because it gives you an idea how things work for different resolutions. Some ppl say there is a lot of repetition - I agree. There are things repeated three times but I consider it as an advantage. Because it increases your chances to memorize the techniques and gives you different angles of view depending on device you use. Although I give this course 5 stars - I have to mention that I was explained ONLY one concept which is obviously not enough to master responsive design. But this concept (media queries) was explained in detail and I like it. Thank you very much for your hard work.

If you have the necessary html and css foundation, you will find this course very easy to follow. The instructor is outstanding and the course is very well paced. I would highly recommend this course to anyone with basic html and css knowledge who is looking to learn how to create a responsive website. By the end of the course you will have created an impressive responsive webpage. The only small annoyance was that the instructor kept calling his page 'he.' I tend to think of a webpage as an "it" so the pronoun reference was odd.

Only take this course if you have never done anything in HTML and/or CSS! Because what responsive design basically comes down to in this course is just one conditional, one media query: @media only screen and (max-width: 480px) { [enter css here] } The lessons/videos are unnecessary long, half the time he’s talking about what he’s going to do instead of actually showing you how, and then he moves on to the next video. Plus he skips all the interesting parts of the code stating simply: “we don’t have time to go into this right now.” Then there’s the fact that half his code is pretty much redundant, which sets a bad example of clean code. There’s one lesson where he mentions using a nav -> ul conditional outside of his media queries because all three resolutions use the same formatting, but the same thing goes for pretty much everything he does. From the background color to the fonts, etc. I know the course is built for pretty much everyone, so there’s a lot of baby steps in there, too. But come on, do you really need to teach people how to rename files or just copy paste. And then talk a few minutes about it: “I’ll show you a neat little (CSS) trick.” If you don’t know what HTML and/or CSS is, but have heard of responsive design, this could be a good introduction to all three. Otherwise skip it.

This is my 3rd Infinite Skills course and my 6th course by Geoff Blake. I recommend both! I've yet to be disappointed by either. Lest it sound as though I sing the high praises of every course and/or instructor I've taken through Udemy, all courses and instructors are NOT created equal (and so I've unfortunately had to give low ratings to the few courses I've taken that I really feel were not good learning experiences, for me, personally). This is a fine introduction to "responsive web design" and the instructor goes through the lessons at an appropriate pace. I learned a great deal. Many thanks to Geoff Blake and the Infinite Skills team.

This course is the perfect mix of explaining things out with teaching new concepts. Some courses have you just follow along and type, this one works in Baby Steps so each 4 minute increment you learn a little bit more. If anything, it possibly moves a bit slow and can be a little redundant as it teaches concepts for the desktop, then repeats the same concepts over again for the tablet & mobile layout. Also, while it helps to have a little HTML & CSS background, most concepts are fairly beginner so its not really an intro course, but if you're not skilled in web design you may still be able to follow along. Just be sure to know some HTML & CSS, or at least understand the concepts. Its not really a beginner course, and certainly not advanced either. Again I really like how it moves along in a step by step motion (baby steps). One of the better courses I've taken. I blew thru it in only 2 days but have a good grasp on the concept & better designing overall.

Geoff Blake is a good teacher, and he makes lessons engaging. But the responsive design shown is very poor, and some implementation is debatable (why repeat same rules in media queries and not put them once outside?). I am not new in responsive design, and I bought this course because I was searching for some practical full-responsive approach course. I made a mistake. If the introduction to the course was different and more reliable, I would leave 4 stars. That's not a tutorial to responsive design. For example, a better title would be: -Learn how to design a basic tablet-mobile friendly website from scratch- I suggest buying that course only if you are totally a newbie.

I have very little knowledge of HTML and CSS. Your training is quite thorough. I love watching how you not only took us step by step through the learning process, but you explained to us what you were doing. You also went into showing us how to make corrections where needed. A large part of this was very repetitive because you were doing nearly the same codes for each resolution. I am glad you did not take the short way around. Watching the repetitive coding process help me sink it in. I would not consider myself an expert after this training, but its gotten me off to a real good start. Much appreciation. I, however, would like to see some additional videos on the left out images that you provided for us to test out.

I have been trying to learn responsive design for a short while now. Other tutorials I have looked at have not given me a lot of confidence to tackle responsive design on my own website. I think the difference with this course is that the tutor allowed mistakes with the layout to happen, and then explained how to fix them. If I have any complaint, I did find it a little long winded in that there was a lot of repetition between the three different layouts being designed. Perhaps this is just me.

This is a nice introduction to responsive web design, however just be aware the prerequisite for this is a working knowledge of HTML and CSS. One bit of constructive criticism for "Infinite Skills" is that is would be (really) nice to be able to see the video portion of the screen only (at full size) as half of the PC screen, so the other half can be used for your coding editor. The only other minor point is that the use of "webkit" (used just once to help with positioning the navigation bar) does not appear to work with FF 21.0, the up to date version as of the date of these comments.
