Linked Lists with C (Udemy.com)
Build a library for working with Linked Lists using the C programming language
Created by: Portfolio Courses
Last updated December 2024
What you will learn
- Student will learn how to create and use linked lists in C by developing a library of functions.
Course Description
In this course you will be taught through step-by-step live coding examples how to create and use a library of functions for working with Linked Lists in the C programming language!
Linked Lists are an important type of data structure in computer science and computer programming, so before we walkthrough how to create and use them, we'll also cover what Linked Lists are, how they work, and some practical applications of Linked Lists. The bulk of the course is spent on learning how to work with Linked Lists using C, with over 3 hours of video covering a series of common functionalities explaining step-by-step how they are implemented. We'll also teach you how to package your functions together into a re-usable library, and how to document your code.
By the end of the course you will have a C library of Linked List functions that will help you build a great programming portfolio!
Linked List functionalities that are covered include:
Creating a linked list
Inserting nodes on the head and tail of a linked list
Deleting nodes from the head and tail of a linked list
Sorting a linked list
Deleting matching nodes from a linked list
Deleting duplicate nodes from a linked list
Reversing a linked list
Duplicating a linked list
Determining if a value is in a linked list
...and many others, over 20 functions in total.

Portfolio Courses
At portfolio courses our goal is to help you build a portfolio of work that you can use to showcase your skills to potential employers, colleagues and clients.
It's great to have a "piece of paper", but nothing says you can do the job like real projects completed for your own fun and learning.
We'll be offering a suite of courses to allow you to grow your technical and soft skills while building an awesome portfolio of work.

This course is easy to understand, and explains and walks through the creation of the linked list and associated functions in detail. I have mostly watched it using the airplay feature from the cellphone onto the non-smart television screen using a roku internet-mediator device that was previously set up.

When I saw the section on the creating a library, I was hyped, and then found it really superficial. In terms of lists it's good for beginners, but not for someone with experience.

As a student at 42 schools, I took this course to work on the push_swap project, which is about sorting numbers using the fewest operations with linked lists. It’s the best choice for this! The explanations were great, and the library was super helpful. Thanks, Kevin!

I am still learning the fundamentals of programming and l was curious to see what Data Structures and Algorithms are all about. Kevin's explanation makes it easy to conceptualize and relate the material given what l have been exposed to so far in my learning.

After getting used to watch a lot of C excellent and useful tutorial videos from Portfolio Courses on YT, i just find out there is an Udemy course for Linked Lists (with i'm studying on University) so i got interested. I've been learning a lot (even not having english as a native lang) and i'm satisfied about the quality of teaching here, i support and recommend this course.

Kevin is an amazing teacher. If you are learning C and not following Portfolio Courses on YouTube you are missing out. I normally wait till the very end of a course to rate it, but I'm halfway through and can safely give it the rating it deserves. If I had to make a criticism it would be that the course could maybe use more "try on your own first" sections. That said, that is something one can easily do without it being officially spelled out for you. Personally, if you enjoyed this course, I'd also recommend the book "Mastering Algorithms with C" ~Kyle Loudon. They show a very different implementation of a Linked List (along with a bunch of other data structures like stacks, queues, sets, hash tables, trees, heaps and priority queues, and graphs). Along with showing you how to build these data structures, each section also shows a way in which you could implement said data structure. That is the second section of the book, the third section of the book goes in to various algorithms such as sorting and searching, numerical methods, data compression (that was pretty cool), data encryption, graph algorithms, and finally geometric algorithms. Again, thank you so much Kevin for your impact on the beginner C lang community.

I was struggling to understand most of the finer concepts in C, in spite of spending 5 months invested in learning about the language. This course eloquently and effectively traverses through C concepts. It also provides fantastic examples that help guide the student into a better place of understanding.

Taking this course has been really beneficial to me. I'm currently enrolled in some kind of DIY software engineering program and I was given a task to work with linked list. This course has given me an insight on not just linked list but data structures.

Explanations are very good — I was able to grasp it. More visuals like illustrations or GIFs would be helpful for visual learners like me. Btw man I came from YouTube and bought your course! :)

This course saved me from losing my mind. Linked lists was so complicated but this course helped me understand them and develop my own. I am glad the instructor left his raw recordings in the videos so not only do we learn the code but also learn how to debug some of the issues we are bound to get!
