Our take
Based on the ratings of 561 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in December 2020. No course pays to be reviewed.
This is a short, admin-side introduction to Magento 2 for the people who run a store rather than build one. Alex Kostritsa spends most of the 4.3 hours (42 lectures, about 172 minutes of them on core functionality) walking through the dashboard, the six product types, attributes, related products and upsells, catalog and cart price rules, newsletters, user roles and order statuses. There is a short hosting and install section up front and a closing section on the Marketplace, the command line tool and production mode. Coding is not covered at all, and the description says so.
Reviewers mostly like the teaching. Several say Alex explains each feature clearly and that they came away confident in the admin panel, and one business owner notes that while a developer is still needed, the course teaches you what to ask for. The complaints are consistent, though. Lower-star reviews call it a long overview that never goes deep, and point at gaps like bulk product upload and setting up websites and store views. A few find the delivery monotone or the pronunciation hard to follow. The install section leans on a one-click hosting provider whose trial has since changed, and the course was last updated in December 2020.
With close to 5,000 students and 561 reviews at 4.2 stars, it is a solid but modest pick. Next to The Complete Magento 2 Course and the Simplified Magento 2 course it sits beside, this one stays strictly on the merchant side. Fine as a first look before handing the developer work to someone else. Not the right buy if you expect depth on any single feature.
Pros
- Covers all six product types, attributes, related products, upsells and price rules step by step
- Reviewers say Alex explains each admin feature clearly and simply, even with zero prior Magento exposure
- Short at 4.3 hours, so a manager can get through the whole admin panel in an afternoon
- Closing section on the Marketplace, command line tool and production mode goes a bit past the basics
Cons
- Low-star reviews call it a surface tour; bulk upload and website and store view setup are not covered
- Last updated December 2020, and the hosting trial used in the install lectures has changed since
- Some students find the voice monotone and the pronunciation hard to follow
Very good introduction for a business owner to undrstand how Magento works. You will still need a web developer but at teast you will know what to ask them to do.
Labeled all levels, but it is really a beginner course for non-developers; no Magento experience is needed.
What you will learn
- Upon course is finished, student will have solid knowledge how to manage Magento 2 based store and how to setup core functionality from scratch.

The hosting platform in the first few chapters has changed its trial options. The course would've been better, if shown how to run Magento via a localhost method. That's also more cost friendly, especially when learning this to apply the knowledge at a company where Magento is already configured with a real database & online hosting.

You go really in depth about Magento, explaining it really well, and I truly appreciate it. Really awesome information! Because I've used other eCommerce platforms before, it's nice to see the difference and ease Magento provides. Thank you!

Really nice tutorial about basics/essentials regarding Magento Setup and admin configuration. Alex is leading you throughout the process of creating roles/products/attributes etc with fine and nice explanations. Would recommend to all business owners, Magento beginners.

Great course to familiarise yourself with Magento 2 admin area and a bit of backend work such as payment gateway and extensions installation. It would have been great for me if the instructor went in a bit more details about the front end, themes etc. sometimes the words are not clear but that could be watching it at 1.5 speed in general, it's great and if you don't anything about Magento 2, this is a very good start.

Many essential functionalities are not covered up. The speaking in most times is too slow and in some time feels distrubed/unclear in the speaker's mind. On the other side there is good (but not excellent) explanation the the catalog-related functionalities

Great knowledge and informative instructor, who shared a lot of insight and great recommendation. I strongly recommend this course for anyone needing to learn Magento 2 or improve their knowledge.

Speaking from a strictly development point of view, this course was definitely not worth the money. Major things like setting up the store, website, store view were left out. How to manage indexes even when we do not have the cli access was crucial. This would be helpful for the layman user .

I have taken this course because I wanted a deep dive on the Magento platform essentials. This course shows, step by step, the main section with a concise explanation of how it works. I recommend this course to everyone who needs a crash course on Magento.

Good course for beginner by providing an overview of the key features. It would have been nice if the course was a bit longer and went into more detail. Overall there is some good material but the accent can be a little bit difficult to understand sometimes which is the only reason why I dropped it by half a star. Thanks.
