Our take
Based on the ratings of 465 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in September 2019. No course pays to be reviewed.
A two hour, 30 lecture walk through building a Magento 2 module: menus, an admin CRUD section, CMS integration, events and a router, then a short workshop. The instructor is Pixelpro formación online, run by David Piqué, a Madrid based CMS developer according to the bio. The syllabus assumes a PHP background and aims to show how Magento 2 wires things together rather than teach PHP or e-commerce. Newcomers to Magento 2 say it gave them an easy, uncluttered first look at the module structure, and that is the honest scope: an orientation, not a full course.
Students who liked it praise the lack of filler; one called it just what you need compared with more cluttered tutorials. The complaints are consistent, though. Many say the code is pasted in rather than typed and explained, so viewers see what to do but not why. File name capitalization drifts in later lectures, several people hit errors, and one on Magento 2.3 got stuck pulling data from the database. There is no downloadable source, so students retype from the screen, and one reviewer says questions went unanswered. The rating of 3.9 across 465 reviews reflects that split.
The last update was September 2019, so expect friction with current Magento releases. About 2,500 students have enrolled. It sits in our Magento 2 list beside The Complete Magento 2 Course and Magento 2 Theme Development; this one covers module wiring only. Worth it as a paid quick orientation for developers who already know PHP and want a two hour overview of module anatomy. Skip it if you need explanations, working source code, or a course that has kept up with Magento.
Pros
- Short and focused: six sections and 121 minutes cover menus, admin CRUD, CMS integration, events and routing
- Reviewers say it is uncluttered compared with longer Magento tutorials and gets to the module structure quickly
- Newcomers to Magento 2 say it was easy to follow as a first look at module structure
- Includes a small workshop section to practise the ideas after the walkthrough
Cons
- Last updated September 2019; one reviewer on Magento 2.3 hit errors and others report broken examples
- Much of the code is pasted in rather than written and explained, so the why is often missing
- No downloadable source code, inconsistent file name capitalization, and one reviewer reports unanswered questions
Good introduction to building Magento 2 Modules. Watch the capitalization of file names as the course goes on because the course gets lazy towards the end on exact capitalization of class name folders and files.
Intermediate is right: a PHP background is required, and reviewers say the pasted code goes by too fast for new Magento developers to follow.

Saludos!

The course was good. In some areas like video 20, after doing the functionalities as in the video, the posts were not listed in the admin posts panel. Also filenames had to be updated from 'index' to 'Index' in some places

The course is great. My only issue is that probably because I'm using a newer version of Magento (2.3) some parts of the tutorial have errors for me, and I managed to fix some of them but I got stuck retrieving data from the DB. I don't know if this could be addressed in the future or if the author has a diff course so I can check it out. But I've also seen other courses/tutorials and this is a good one, without all the clutter from others, just what you need. Good job.

Not bad, but I expected more. I also noticed inconsistencies with file name, and whilst it all worked, at the risk of sounding very petty, I reckon for a newby keeping file name consistent throughout is very important.

Good introduction to building Magento 2 Modules. Watch the capitalization of file names as the course goes on because the course gets lazy towards the end on exact capitalization of class name folders and files. With that said... Learned a lot... even from the errors.

Full detail explanation on every topic which is the best for beginners to learn about certain topic.

It is good course for the beginner. But author should include source of example for the practice.

Great speed run introduction on how to create modules, use as much as you can the code provided on the github repository as reference. Be aware that if you are newbie to PHP or newbie to frameworks (will be more easy to catch if you have experience with any other kind of frameworks), this can be hard to digest, Then if you are already seasoned with php, and have some frameworks experience under your toolkit belt. this course is a good approach to get familiar on how modules work on Magento 2
