Why Learn Computer Vision in Python using OpenCV?
Computer vision applications and technology are exploding right now! With several apps and industries making amazing use of the technology, from billion-dollar apps such as Pokémon GO, Snapchat and up and coming apps like MSQRD and PRISMA.
Even Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, and Tesla are all heavily utilizing computer vision for face & object recognition, image searching and especially in Self-Driving Cars!
As a result, the demand for computer vision expertise is growing exponentially!
However, learning computer vision is hard! Existing online tutorials, textbooks, and free MOOCs are often outdated, using older incompatible libraries or are too theoretical, making it difficult to understand.

Hi I'm Rajeev, a Data Scientist, and Computer Vision Engineer.
I have a BSc in Computer & Electrical Engineering and an MSc in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Edinburgh where I gained extensive knowledge of machine learning, computer vision, and intelligent robotics.
I have published research on using data-driven methods for Probabilistic Stochastic Modeling for Public Transport and even was part of a group that won a robotics competition at the University of Edinburgh.
I launched my own computer vision startup that was based on using deep learning in education since then I've been contributing to 2 more startups in computer vision domains and one multinational company in Data Science.
Previously, I worked for 8 years at two of the Caribbean’s largest telecommunication operators where he gained experience in managing technical staff and deploying complex telecommunications projects.

Course was good in parts, but rather awkward in others. Some areas the instructor did a good job with the theory, but in other areas there was too much screen flipping back and forth, especiallyin the the neural net sections describing back propagation) Code was good overall with good examples, but sometimes the instructor would gloss over how values are determined, and often would say "go look it up", but a basic explanation would be helpful as to how certain values are determined.

I very much enjoyed the mini projects, the majority of them were incredibly useful and interesting and a good way to put into practice the theory. I also very much liked the fact that they touch on a wide variety of subjects and applications and in this way I feel much more prepared as a Data Scientist to tackle any problem I may come across. Now the only reason why I will not give it a 5 stars rating is because I found the lectures quite messy at times with technical problems and mistakes in the slides. Also found that harder concepts tend to be a bit rushed while easier concepts are more well explained. When naturally, you want the opposite in a lecture. Besides that I thought that the insistence right at the start of using a virtual machine was unnecessary, I wasted quite a bit of time setting that up on my laptop as it's been a while since I've used one, but you don't really need it, so I would have appreciated that disclaimer right at the start so we could opt for one or the other without wasting time. Finally I know that the lecturer has a new, apparently improved course, so I would like to ask if it has the same projects as these ones or if it expands on that. I'm not interested in going through the theory again, but I may purchase the course if there are a substantial amount of new projects.

This was an excellent course. The explanations were great, the examples were perfect and the speed at which it was conducted suits any beginner. The additional sections on ML were just superb and a great start point for learning ML. Also appreciate the great references given to further learning.

I like the approach taken, to simplify lot of complicated concepts, in algorithms and the code, which helps a beginner with little or no knowledge, to confidently learn Computer Vision. I liked the way knowledge is shared, by actually showing some real life, practical and fun use cases along with the code required and providing resoures for further exploration, if the learner is interested. Also, the list of use cases which are potential start-up ideas, are very useful for the ambitious learners.

Very poor video and content editing in the first few sections of the course. Lot of audio volume issues too in the beginning! It does get better in the later sections. As far as the course content is concerned, it is very superficial. Of course, it is intentional and was mentioned in the course description. But it could have been little more detailed. And lot of outdated information. Obviously due to the fact it was prepared long back. Probably the course was very current and relevant when it was launched. Just that I am late! :)

This course is amazing in terms of how detailed it is. I have tried other courses and some books but in terms of knowledge and explanations this course is the best. The only thing that really makes it 4 not 5 start is the voice level of the videos. I listen to the course and I have to turn the volume to the max. I finish listening, turn on some music and my head explode because the course voice volume is too low. All in all there is no better OpenCV/computer vision course that is so detailed and each thing thew the author mentions is fully explained.

This course serves as a Roadmap of Computer Vision, outlining the nodes(concepts) you need to know in order to build understanding. As a beginner in CV i found this helpful. The tutor's approach is breadth-first search, aka it covers as many crucial concepts as possible without diving deep, although building intuition on the topic and connecting the dots between what is an x technique doing and why we need it in real life. The course structure is well organized, with code and video lectures being handed out in jupyter notebook and pdf accordingly. The tutor is responsive (he answered to my message within a few hours). The course is what it claims to be, an Intro and a nice head start for digging deeper yourself. Cons: There are some code blocks that he could provide deeper explanation, since were crucial on understanding the intuition behind a certain technique. Still I'm pleased overall.

Rajeev you are awesome! Being myself from a Biomedical engineering field i always struggled with matlab in all my four years of my study now after looking at your course i initally thought of " Why not migrate to openCV" and that is when i bought the course and now i believe i have a steady foundation with the syntax of open cv and can appreciate certain important concepts like ORB,SIFT,MEANSHIFT .etc Now i believe i am in a position to do away with all the struggles of matlab and make openCV primary Thank you again keep delivering amazing content like this :) Cheers !

Great course : computer vision is a very interesting topic with a lot of applications. The course covers the basics, from images manipulations, face detection/recognition, motion tracking, machine learning. Python + numpy knowledge is required. Each section ends with a very fun 'project/app' and there are many references/links to research/papers for people (I am) about the theory. Thanks Rajeev for the awesome course, I learned a lot.
