Course Description

In this course, you will learn all of the old and modern security systems that have been used and are currently being used. You also learn how to crack each one and understand why certain security systems are weak and why others are strong. We will even go into RSA, AES and ECC which are the three main modern cryptography systems used today.

Learn How to Crack the Code!

  • Advanced Encryption Standard

  • Public Key Cryptosystems (ie RSA)

  • Elliptic Curve Cryptography

  • Modern Cryptographic Security

  • Advanced Mathematical Techniques

Master the Art of Security!

Security is a very important tool, and the ability to use mathematics to hide information is vital to the world. See how our banks and even the National Security Agency (NSA) keeps their data secure. With the knowledge of this course, you can even apply for security jobs at places like the NSA! This is a course that is rarely taught in Universities, so take advantage and start today!

Most of today's security is based upon RSA, and AES but the NSA is trying to push Elliptic Curve Cryptography since it is more secure than RSA. In this course, we learn all of these cryptosystems and their weaknesses. We give examples of every cipher that we cover. Only a small number of people currently understand these systems, and you can join them. The best part of this course is the fun in breaking the codes. We offer many examples of each cryptosystem and how to break each one.

Even as you are reading this, your https:// at the top says that the RSA Algorithm is successfully keeping your information from flooding the internet. You can find out how it all works and the mathematical structures that keep it secure in this course. So what are you waiting for?

The course was really good. I got to learn about many new things, got introduced to the world of cryptography. Learnt about many new cryptosystems like AES, RSA, Elliptic Curve, etc. The nice part of the course is that before introducing to the cryptosystem part, there were many lectures on number theory which helped me understand the cryptosystems in detail. Overall nice course.

Enthusiastic presenter. Explains things in detail with small steps which is great. Just one minor quible-Sometimes stumbles when solving on the white board and has to correct himself much like could happen in a real lecture theatre. While this could be improved by using printed prepared slides it would lose the excitement and spontaneity.

Excellent survey of cryptography. Recommended for anyone wanting to learn from the ground up and especially for anyone pursuing certifications such as Security+. The instructor knows his subject and is really passionate about it. Some of the video was a little blurry, but that's not a deal breaker.

I mainly came here for ECC. He only covered basic idea about it, knowing which you can't do any practical. Plus, he mentioned it's over real numbers while it's not true it's over finite fields, he again forgot to say he's terrible at it, that time. This course is best if your goal is to give an exam but don't buy if you want to do a practical. I am a programmer and I was looking to do something complex with ECC but now after this course I'm searching something else.

Nice presentation on different cryptographic systems, clearly explained. Maybe , to make it more interactive and concrete, it would be nice to add tests (and not just multiple choices questions) wich would involve cracking the presented codes, and force us using actual algorithms. Just an idea.

This course was a good overview. The instructor is enthusiastic. There are however, lots of errors in the course. The instructor had many many times where he said he was not familiar with things. Like hexadecimal representation of binary numbers. Given that crypto is all about computation, he should know this stuff cold. He repeatedly says things like 'A' is 11 in hex. It is not. He said that a 2048 bit number is in 'some other type of binary'. It is not. He also stated that both senders know the private key for RSA. This is not really what the private key is. He should have at least brought up the concept of the Diffie Hillman exchange. He also makes statements about 'block' ciphers being geometric based ciphers. Crypto people make a distinction between block ciphers and stream ciphers, which is an entirely different notion. He should have at least defined the difference between symmetric and asymmetric crypto-systems, and why it is important. These are fundamental concepts that should have been covered.

I have learned so much about cryptography now than since I started taking the course. One of my dream jobs is to work for the NSA. That lecture on elliptic curve cryptography will come in handy. Thanks.

Having no background in mathematics and coming from a low-grade school, I eventually taught myself algebra at a later age. This means I missed some things going through the course, but Kody's detailed examples and engaging style ensured I only needed to look up a few things on wikipedia. The wikipedia / screen sharing videos were hard to follow, because there's a lot of information on the screen and the scrolling is distracting. I would strongly recommend to take screenshots with highlighted overlays to explain these things. Overall a very nice introduction to crypto math - I learned a lot of very interesting stuff and am looking forward to learn more about number theory and perhaps group theory.

Great course! I like the way we looked at, and proved all the maths! Would have liked some more excercises with answers though. The order of the lectures seems a little bit mixed up, also because some of the classes were apparently in a different order in a different course, but it is ok. Had to look up some stuff here and there, but that's allright, part of the deal if you want to learn. Audio is not too good though. All in all a very nice course.

Love the energy, the material is interesting and the instructor's explanations are concise and understandable. ========================================== Kody shines in the number theory lectures. He's very passionate and knowledgeable about all things mathematics. Things start to fall apart when the cryptosystems are introduced. This is more of an introduction to cryptosystems. There is very little meat on the bone, so to speak, when the course gets to even basic cryptosystems. The course skips basic ciphers and only provides PDF documents about them. It was disappointing to spend most of some lectures on Wikipedia. The claim that the course teaches "how to crack each one" (in the course description) is simply false. =============================================== Overall, I very much enjoyed what was taught. I like Kody and the course content. I wish the description had been more honest and that some topics had been as thoroughly addressed as the Number Theory lectures.
