This course does a great job tackling complex concepts like infinity focus, and I appreciate the effort to break them down. That said, I didn’t always find the explanations completely clear on the first watch — some of these ideas needed a bit of extra research and hands-on practice to fully click. However, that doesn’t take away from the overall quality. The teaching style is engaging, the structure is well thought out, and the instructor clearly knows their craft. Once you put in a little effort on your own, everything starts to make much more sense. Overall, a fantastic course that’s definitely worth taking — just be ready to explore and experiment alongside it.

This course really helped me understand depth of field. I was struggling with how far I should stand from my subject; I just couldn't wrap my head around that part. I felt I understood aperture but just couldn't get the other part and this really helped.

With over four and a half decades of experience as a freelance photographer, I have accumulated a wealth of knowledge and expertise that I believe can be effectively conveyed through courses, books, videos, literature, and other educational materials. Among these resources, I have found Mike’s teaching techniques to be particularly valuable and effective. LOVED.!

I like the illustrations associated the compression technique using the combination of the focal length plus the aperture. Also, the blurring effect by zooming to different focal lengths keeping the same aperture.

I've enjoyed all of Mikes courses but especially this one as it met me where I'm currently at in my photography journey. I especially benefitted from focal length and learning how to use this as part of my composition in new and functional ways. My images drastically improved within just a few lessons.

Before I started Mike's courses it was overwhelming for me to start using my camera. Now, it is so much fun and I love it! Mike is an excellent teacher and somehow he instilled in me this love for taking photos. I love my photos so much now, I didn't dream that I would become so good with it and I am just starting the third course. Amazing.

I love Mike's style of teaching. He is easy to follow and understand and his explanation of difficult concepts really enables the student to comprehend and then go and practice. I fully recommend this course to anyone wishing to improve their skills in photography.

Another great course from Mike. As with the previous course, this has added some small, but critical photography skills, as well as helped me discover different camera features that improve my photography overall, while unlocking certain secrets that had previously stopped me taking the photos I wanted.

Good information about auto focus. It's actually not that easy to figure out, so having additional help is great! Also, I love the simple, clear explanation about cleaning your lenses and sensor. I had a couple of small spots on my sensor and was able to clean them without any problem, which saved me $80 if I were to have had it cleaned professionally. Also have enjoyed the lessons about light and color as they relate to the white balance settings. Also, I am considering which lenses to purchase so learning more about focal length has been super helpful to me. It's actually quite fascinating to see the comparisons between all the basic focal lengths and how they can be used to create a very different result. This is exactly what I needed to know to make good decisions.

When I started watching i wasn't sure I was learning much that I didn't know already. However now I've finished it I've realised I've learnt loads and I will be re-watching sections to ensure I've full grasped the concepts covered.
