Course Description

LATEST: Course Update - August 09, 2026

Do you know that great looking photos can dramatically make a difference in what the perceived value is of the item you are photographing? Yes, it’s true. Several years ago I started helping my wife build her eBay business while creating the photos of jewelry and small products that she was selling. Over and over again I saw her sell her items on eBay for many times more than what she paid for them. Her items sometimes would sell for 35 or 50 times more than what she paid. Sometimes even more than that.

What’s the difference between the items? Nothing, except the photos that she showed were beautiful. They were lit and composed beautifully, had interesting backgrounds and overall, had the look that you might see in the photographs displayed at high end jewelers and department stores. As the result, this gave them a much higher perceived value and her customers were willing to pay more for these items.

You are probably wondering, what’s the big deal? What makes these photos look so great? Can anyone learn to take photos like these? Yes, I absolutely believe anyone can? Here’s why:

I have been a professional photographer for many years. Our studio specialized in portrait & wedding photography and we were quite busy. When she asked me to help her take her photos of jewelry and small products she started selling, I started doing so in a simple, easy and quick way since I didn’t have too much time to spend on her photos, I was quite busy taking my own photos and running the studio.

What started as a simple and quick photo session of her items, has evolved through the years. I was able to fine tune the lighting, the set-up and overall way we photographed her items. Our method has remained simple, quick, easy to learn, and consistent. We step into our small studio room we have designated for taking these photos, turn on the lights, and begin the photography.

If you would like to learn how you can take photos of the small products or jewelry you are selling, consider enrolling in this course. Instead of photographing your items on a carpet or bed spread with bad lighting. Say NO to bad photos and start making more money. Whether you are selling your own products on your own website or small products on eBay, I truly believe this course can help you.

It really doesn’t take any more time taking outstanding and professional looking photos. I even show you several lighting methods and techniques you can use. Some of them cost very little and some of them are free.

There’s even a pretty good chance that you may already own a camera that is more than adequate and has the potential to produce these amazing photos. The only thing that may be missing is the knowledge you need to start taking more professional looking photos by using the methods I show you, step by step, in this course. Enroll today, say NO to bad photos and start making more money.

It was a nice course to use when starting out with small product photography when all I had really was an iPhone. It was a good course but it didn't need to be this long. I was able to take small photography images after about 5 lessons. A lot of the course I skipped because he was teaching me ways to take photos with different equipment that I didn't have. It was a good course but overall I don't think it's worth purchasing.

I'm not finding much useful. The information he is giving is so dated that there isn't much worth while for me personally. I also have a portrait wedding photography background so I do know a lot of about photography. I was hoping he would show more about setting up shots and how to light them. I do like the use of reflectors and natural light. I disagree with several of the points he makes and I think they would be confusing to beginners. I do think he is a good teacher though. He knows a lot about composition and the rules of thirds and depth of field which is very important if you are new. Showing Adobe 7 is so outdated it is a waste of time. I wish this was updated to Lightroom at least. You could have him replace that section with an updated section on Lightroom.

When I first decided to take this course I only did it because I was curious, but I really got a lot out of these lessons. I've always had a tiny interest in small product photography and I figured this course might be just what I need to learn a little bit more on the subject. You see, before I retired I used to be a professional photographer. Nikon cameras were my choice but I have been known to shoot with a GoPro from time to time. Now I mainly shoot with my Nikon D600. I still use Photoshop almost every day. And I'm also an illustrator and because of that I use a Wacom Intuos Pro digital tablet to draw and paint with on a regular basis and to edit my photos too ( Now I contribute many of my photos to stock photo agencies) . So much of what I encountered in the course I already knew. I've even sold many, many items on Ebay for myself and for friends as well. I'm also a former wedding and event photographer. But I have to say the information you provided in the course was concise and right on point. Because of that I enjoyed the course very, very much. So keep up the good work. I think this will be a great way for anyone to pick up an extra source of income with just a minimum amount of effort.

Having worked on fashion brands as a graphic designer, I think some of the presentations need a bit of update. But the lecture/presentation on using Photoshop to improve the images are pretty good :') The techniques are pretty simple and easy to follow, but gives really clean, uncomplicated outputs. The final result really depends on your creativity and openness to experimentation. Start shooting! :') He still updates the course with other techniques and new materials as he discovers them or to add more value to the course. Very good starting point for jewelry photography.

I was looking forward to learn to create a white background while photographing small fine jewelry. He briefly touched on it to my surprise. Amazon needs pure white background for products on its site. In my experience, going for a white background on small jewelry creates a faded item and I was hoping to learn the various techniques as to how to remedy this problem, If however I had a choice to use any colored background then the course material would have been very effective. So generally I was a bit disappointed in the content of material only because enough time was not spent on pure white background for Amazon potential sellers. His wife sells on Ebay which requires no set standard for product background and as such he disregarded the core essence of the relationship between product item and the pure white background in our growing E commerce Society.

The course is good for newcomers. I have difficulty with taking small jewellery pictures and pictures shown in this course are very crisp. However, I am taking jewellery pictures for a year and use the same technique shown on this course and pictures are no where as good as the ones show here. I have learnt a few new things lets see if this will help me in anyway.

Although I found the course to be fairly thorough, I was surprised to see the omission of certain modern equipment recommendations such as modern cameras, speedlights and radios. The initial information made me think this video was several years old from some of the equipment recommendations, only later did I realize it's relatively new. Although I understand the main thrust was for low resolution web output, recommending older gear when there's plenty of inexpensive modern gear seemed out of sync with the overall presentation. Other than that, I found these lessons to be well made and beneficial. Very well done overall.

Mr. Neubauer explains his method for creating jewelry and small item photography. The setup is quick, inexpensive and very effective. There are advanced techniques that can improve the quality of large reflective surfaces, but the process shown is an excellent beginning to high-quality jewelry photography. The most valuable part of the instruction, for me, was the de-emphasis on the camera used and an emphasis on the importance of the lighting. Mr. Neubauer shows several different was to light the same image. This insight will help the photographer to rapidly become very proficient with this type of photography. I highly recommend his course.

The presentation was "ok", there was chunks of good information to be found for beginners, but the instructor was not very engaging and some information was dated. Lighting was covered to show 3 possibilities that all rendered a similar look which is god in some aspects but can be perceived as dull and boring as there is little explanation on adding drama or style to the objects. All in all this class is recommended for someone that has never tried shooting small table top items, and has little to no experience with their camera (DSLR), and wanting to sell some items on eBay, easy, etc, this is NOT a class for someone wanting to shoot still life/ table top items commercially.

By Kelly Schneider Robbins on 6/13/2015

I have looked at other online classes before on this same subject, but they were pretty basic. I have taken lighting courses and have studio lights, but was looking for hints and some refreshers since it's been awhile since I've used them. This was just perfect for me. The information was great for someone like me that has a DSLR and light set-up, but I think it would also be really good for someone without the equipment as he shows ways to get very similar results using things made from materials around the house or that you can get very reasonably on Ebay or the craft store.
