Our take

Based on the ratings of 649 students and a sample of their written reviews. No course pays to be reviewed.

This is an Infinite Skills course built around one goal: passing the Microsoft 70-462 exam for Administering SQL Server 2012 Databases. It runs about 11.8 hours and walks through installation and configuration, maintaining instances and databases, optimizing and troubleshooting, managing data, and setting up security and high availability. It's aimed at IT professionals chasing MCSA or MCSE certification, not people learning databases from zero.

Reviewers with SQL Server background like the pace and the clear, step by step delivery. Several call it well planned and easy to follow. The complaints cluster around one thing: it explains the how but skips the why. More than one reviewer says the instructor shows how to set up alerts or configure FILESTREAM without explaining the purpose, so newcomers end up pausing to look up terms mid-lesson. Others wanted sample questions for exam prep and found the opening sections rough for true beginners.

The course was last updated in 2013 and still targets SQL Server 2012, so anyone prepping for a current exam version should check that against what Microsoft is testing now. At 4.7 stars across 649 ratings it holds up well for what it is: a dense, admin-level review of exam topics. Worth it if you've already got SQL Server hours under your belt and want a structured refresher before test day, less so if you're starting from scratch.

Pros

  • Covers every 70-462 exam domain in one 11.8 hour course
  • Reviewers call the pacing well planned and not rushed
  • Clear, step by step lessons that are easy to follow along with
  • Comes with a certificate and a long track record of reviews

Cons

  • Explains the how but often skips the why behind each feature
  • No sample or practice exam questions despite being test prep
  • Last updated in 2013, still built around SQL Server 2012
It is a comprehensive overview which is nice, so I can see all of the topics. The only thing I find lacking is that often it doesn't give a "why"

Listed as All Levels but reviewers say it really suits admins already familiar with SQL Server basics

By Aaron Tennyson Vinodh Immanuel on 8/8/2019

This course is not for beginners. However it contains lot of required/relevant information for the exam 70-462. It would have been better to have some quizzes and exercises for each section in this course!

By Manoj Dey on 6/21/2019

The course is not structured properly.
Best will be , Before starting anything the instructor shall guide you through downloading a SQL server Express edition or omething and provide a sample database so you can practice along side, this video is like a new bulletin

By Santhosh Reddy on 6/17/2019

This course is helpful for people who want to refresh their SQL Server Administration skills. Course is not suitable for beginners as it lacks in detail explanation, only overview was provided on most of the topics.

By Guillermo Guberman on 5/11/2019

Clear, complete, to the point

By Le Wen on 5/10/2019

Need to explain the basic concepts before dig into details.
Many repeated contents.

By Chris Lockhart on 4/19/2019

Already in the 3rd video there is misinformation, that in addition to not even being true is in contradiction to Microsoft's documentation. Not very promising for a course to prep for certification exam.
