Course Description

No complex grammar! No complex Devnagari Script! This course is designed by me Barsha Basnet for those who want to speak the Nepali Language quickly without all the grammar rules and complex conjugation. From the experience that I have collected teaching all sorts of students from different parts of the world since 8 years, I feel like this is the easiest way to learn Nepali in Roman Nepali. In this course, you will build a basic foundation for Nepali speaking by learning the basic pattern of Nepali and then build upon those concepts and be conversational by the end of the course.

This course includes:

  • lectures for the target structures

  • listening and speaking practice for every single Nepali sentence structure

  • future updates - this course will continue to grow and grow

  • PDF transcripts

Each section focuses on one, two, or three target structures so that you can master each one and produce it accurately in your spoken English.

If you want to speak Nepali more clearly, if you want to sound more native-like, or if you simply want to take your Nepali to the next level, this course can help you achieve your goal of improving your Nepali.

By the end of this course, you will feel comfortable speaking and carry on a conversation with any Nepali speaker and even travel to Nepali with more or less confidence. I look forward to seeing you on the course!

Barsha Basnet

Namaste! My name is Barsha Basnet. I am a citizen of Nepal and a Nepali Language Teacher. I have been teaching Nepali professionally since 2014, and am a proud teacher of more than 60 students from around the world. I love to meet people and experience their cultures. I used to teach in person but after the pandemic in 2019, I shifted to the online mode which opened up a new world for me. I feel blessed to teach a wide range of students from around the world. As I prepared to shift my students online, I found there was a lack of Nepali Language content on the Internet, so I stepped up to create some. I hope you find this course useful!

My qualifications: I have completed my Bachelor's in Education as well as in Chemistry, and I am currently pursuing an MBA from Tribhuvan University, Nepal.

Such an amazing teacher. I love how she mixes in vocab with learning grammar at the same time. You can tell that she has years of teaching Nepali because she does it so well.

By Mara Harris on 8/23/2024

Namaste. It is very overwhelming to start with. This is my first day. I will improve . It is a good format, as it is important to hear the language being spoken. Namaste

It's a fantastic course, mainly due to its methodology. There were lots of designed practices, which help embed newly learned vocabularies into memory. The pace is a bit slow but it works somehow. I learned many useful phrases to talk to my nepalese friends and colleagues. I would recommend this course to anyone who is looking for a starter course in Nepali.

By Ailsa Hebert on 1/28/2024

Yes it is a good match. I think maybe speaking a little slower when you say the word or phrase first and then speeding it up as you repeat it. I am really enjoying this and I have just started!

By Miroslav Friščić on 9/18/2023

Amongst many Nepali language classes, I have found Barsha most useful because she speaks spoken Nepali, not just pure grammar (which is OK, but, after all, if Nepali people understand me, that*s it, even if it is not grammarly 100% correct).

By Urmi Bhattacheryya on 7/22/2023

Learnt quite a bit during the course - albeit speaking Bengali and Hindi did give me a little more edge over common-origin words than, say, a non-South Asian. However, Barsha's course is very well-designed and ensures the meanings of words, and usages of verbs really sticks in your memory.

By Gia Sanchez on 6/18/2023

As the name says, it covers topics for beginners to the language, but it is very easy to follow and the drill over the pronuntiation is greatly appreciated.

By Terence Rodrigues on 2/18/2023

Yes the lessons are at a good learning pace especially for someone who is a beginner. Barsha makes it very easy with the pronunciation and the structure she uses in teaching.

By Gayla D Steckman on 7/21/2021

She is a very good, patient teacher. We have been helped in our beginning level of Nepali. I would recommend her to anyone wanting to learn. Thank you.

By Megan Pierce on 7/18/2021

So far I am really enjoying the course. I appreciate that the phrases are broken down into their individual words as that helps me to remember each phrase.
