Oracle SQL Performance Tuning Masterclass (2026) (Udemy.com)

I feel this course is presented from the DBA's perspective and focuses on quick fixes that derive from correctly reading the plan. The information is mostly correct, but it's very dragged out. Most of the course you "will learn in the next lectures" the important parts, but when you actually arrive there, it's mostly the standard Oracle documentation on the matter. That being said, I did actually found some useful information useful from this course. The first part of the course was interesting and some particular examples towards the end, as well. My feedback for this course is that it can be more concise and to the point. The second issue is with the writing style: please stop using the old comma cartesian join syntax! Oracle still permits you to use it, but it's been deprecated since 1992. Sometimes when using it for dynamic SQLs or through specific ORMs, you may get some vague SQL92 errors because you are using an incompatible syntax.

I can recommend this course in Udemy. It starts with some description of SGA, PGA, caches, redo, undo etc then how to get the explain plan using various methods then it describes access paths you will see in the explain plans and how to use hints to influence the access paths and various constructs to improve performance, such as types of indexes, IOTs and Dynamic Statistics etc you can create your own pdb and upload the sample schemas if you like to play along with the demos, I think that should be at the beginning of the course not the end. Good for beginners but also good revision for everyone

Amazing course! Everything you ever wanted to know about query optimisation. Very detailed and clear information about query execution plans, what each line in the plan means. What is the difference between an Explain Plan and an Execution Plan. What is the difference between a bad query and a good query. Query optimisation techniques are also presented. The videos and student materials are very well prepared. The author uses simple and clear English. I would recommend!

The course is excellent, contains illustrative examples and nothing superfluous. Unlike Oracle Concepts or Oracle Documentation, this course does not allow you to get bogged down in details. It is easier for the student to plan his progress. Since I am not a native English speaker, the transcription received automatically was not enough for me. But this is not a critical problem due to the expressiveness of speech and the use of a limited vocabulary. This course is relatively inexpensive. I give the highest grade because I believe that knowledge should be available at all times. Thank you for your hard work.

As occurs in all of his courses, but especially this one and his SQL bootcamp, the instructor understands the need to address background knowledge prior to going into the main topics of this course. Many teachers do not have the intuition to skillfully decide what to include and what to leave out in a given course but this is one of the strengths of this instructor. This course is clearly one of the more valuable courses for Oracle SQL users.

The amount of knowledge offered in this course is HUGE. I think one needs to go through it several times until everything sinks in. As a non native speaker, however, I like to make use of the transcripts to read along while video + audio is running. Though this seems automatically generated, and it needs some better redaction, as usually it doesn't get right so many often used expressions, like eg "SQL Developer", or the words "cursor", or "query". So I had to create better versions of the transcripts for my personal use Unfortunately, I cannot really use them as replacements for the original transcripts. This would be a nice feature, wouldn't it? Otherwise, this course is REALLY AWESOME. Thanks for it!

This is one of the best course I have taken. Mr Omer is very knowledgeable about Oracle database and he is aware of every details about how query gets executed. I recommend this course to everyone who wants to understand how query gets executed as that's the first step before query tuning. On negative side sometimes I find the grammar little challenging but that is manageable. I was also expecting some details about how to read AWR reports and some course on oracle rac as an add on to this course.

Amazing experience! This course has a lot to offer to the developers. The way you write the query before the course and the way you'd think about the query before executing it after you are done with the course in itself speaks volumes about the type of course this is... Thank you so much for putting so much time and effort and this wonderful content all in a single place... I am sure to come back to many of the topics, time and over again....
