Course Description

In this course, I'll help you get comfortable with all of the major topics in the first semester of Organic Chemistry. All too often, students fear this course or they consider it too difficult for the average person to succeed.

I'm here to tell you that that's simply not true. You don't have to be a genius to succeed in OChem, and you don't have to spend hours upon hours of memorizing random details to make a good grade. You do have to understand the fundamentals, and you do have to be good at applying those fundamentals.

My goal is to help you get to those Eureka moments quicker and more often than your peers through analogy and cutting through all of the unneeded fluff that most students fixate on. If you're having trouble with OChem, if you want a course to help you prepare, or if you just want a different perspective on the topic, I hope that you'll join me! You're going to do great!! :)

Meets my expectations for an online course, engaging instructor, and accurate content.

Purchased this course to get ahead in my organic chemistry course, and it was super helpful! Definitely recommend to anyone because a lot of the concepts were made simple and it was easy to apply. Only con is that in some videos there is a bit of background noises and that can be distracting, otherwise phenomenal course.

Seems like the course was added to Udemy after serving its initial purpose at a university. Good course but certainly not complete, lacks detail but gets the main concepts across.

By Martin Walschburger on 11/28/2022

Cover most of my college course, and in a different manner that helps better explain things, specifically the mechanism.

By Miguel Phillips on 7/24/2022

Excellent presenter; relevant content delivered at the right pace. Love the "magic blackboard" and presenter's approach. Thanks for an enlightening journey.

Had gone through Gen Chem and acquired working knowledge of organic chemistry and polymer chemistry during my PhD studies, but I never had the basics. The pace of this is excellent for my case.

By Terry Norman on 5/20/2022

So far a good course. The content appears fine and delivery from the teacher is good. However, I could not give a five star rating as the background noise in the video lessons I watched was really annoying (like REALLY annoying!). I would recommend that a prospective buyer carefully reviews alternative courses before buying this one.

By Hilton Tottaram on 12/18/2020

Yes. I have learned a lot - especially with mechanisms. However, I observed that some of the mechanisms that are disallowed by the methods discussed, could also be disallowed by forbidding lone pairs (or nucleophiles) from attaching to a carbon that is sp3 hybridized.

By Elliander Eldridge on 9/21/2020

The information is good so far, but it feels like studying in a crowded room. There are lots of subtle background sounds that are just loud enough to be distracting. I found myself rewinding a few times because I kept missing stuff due to distractions from within the videos. Audio should have been recorded in either a quiet environment or with noise cancelling headphones. If they were I'd give the course 5 stars so far as he speaks very clearly and gets to the point.

The steps are really broken down. This is a good example to follow when teaching high school students who easily get lost when teachers assume prior knowledge.
